Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitors par level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Clients served are predominately adults eighteen (18) year of age and older. Qualifications:
Creates and maintains a sterile field, adhering to the principles of Sterile technique, monitors /corrects breaks in technique.
Performs sponge, sharp and instrument counts in accordance to policy, initiates corrective actions when count is incorrect.
Selects appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment based on procedure to be performed.
Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure by passing instruments or retracting as needed
Properly assembles instruments and equipment according to policies and procedures when providing direct/indirect patientcare.
Establishes and maintains open communication with physician & physician's assistant.
Properly Identifies/handles/ labels cultures and specimens.
Communicates pertinent information within appropriate time span to healthcare team.
Responsible for maintaining instruments and equipment and reporting when malfunctioning is noted.
Properly labels drugs/solutions, keeps track of amounts used and reports to RN circulator at end of case.
Notifying RN Circulating Nurse or Charge Nurse of information received from physician and patient.
Assists with training of new surgical staff.
Maintains appropriate records.
Assist with Quality Assurance program, pertinent to Surgical Services Department.
Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, the National Center for Competency Testing, or an appropriate program for surgical technology through the United States Military. High School graduate or completion of G. E. D.
AHA BLS Certification
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the OR in the scrub tech role.
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional languages desirable.

Summary/Objective:
The PatientCareTechnician III (PCT III) is a role dedicated to ensuring the patient has an exceptional patientcare experience while in our center by meeting all patient needs. The PCT III will assist the technologist through smooth patient transitions and continuously engaging with the patient on exam expectations and wait times. The PCT III may prepare the patient for the exam contrast and/or initiate IV as needed and provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist. The PCT III will assist the patient with any incomplete clinical pre-screening forms or consents and conduct the clinical history interview in preparation for the technologist's final review. The position will perform advanced clinical screening interviews for technologist review. In addition, the PCT III will contact the referring provider office to obtain updated orders, clarify orders, and determine when a new order is required. The PCT III must ensure patients are notified when prep/exam details have changed prior to the exam's scheduled date. The PCT III is responsible for requesting and validating the patient's prior reports and images, and ensuring the clinical review has been conducted in a timely manner, prior to the patient's exam. Miscellaneous duties include: stocking the changing rooms, tech supplies etc.
Essential Functions
1. Performs detailed clinical screening of patients for technologist review. Informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety.
2. Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.
3. If qualified, initiates IV for contrast studies and provide medical attention for contrast reactions under the guidance of the radiologist, monitors completion and retrieves lab values. Has working knowledge of normal ranges to facilitate efficient notification to technologist/radiologist aiding in proper patient flow.
4. Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist.
5. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.
6. Supports the technologists in preparing patients for the exam, helping patients on and off the imaging table, and escorting them back to the lobby or suitable waiting area.
7. Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors). Obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies.
8. Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation. Sends images through the PACS system to the appropriate location as needed.
9. Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and to clarify orders when needed.
10. Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience :
