Essential Job Functions:
* Responsible for taking patient history and obtaining vital signs
* Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing
* Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples, if certified
* Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue and culture samples

* Maintains examination rooms and stocks necessary medical supplies

* Registration duties: explain to patients what insurances that are accepted and those that are out of network as well knowledgeable of all pricing - Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely manner
* Accompany the provider to the bedside
* Accurately and thoroughly documents the patient's medical history, physical exam, and procedures
* Completes transcription as requested
* Perform tasks to improve provider efficiency during the course of a shift
* Greet and registers patients
* Answers and appropriately triages phone calls

Position Summary
The Medication Technician will be responsible for the daily process of medication monitoring and the overall medication regimen for the clients at Mockingbird Hill Recovery Center. Duties include, but are not limited to instructing clients on medication uses, side effects and possible interactions to report, administering injections and performing TB tests, processing medication refill requests and prior authorizations, completing vital signs and other measurements, consulting with providers and nurses for medication issues and follow-up, updating client medication records, and monitoring individuals on health issues relevant to their care.
Education and Experience
Graduate of Medical Assistant (MA), Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), Certified Nursing Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic program accredited by the U.S. Department of Education required
Knowledge of basic pharmacology required
Previous clinical experience in a medical setting highly preferred
Knowledge of substance-use disorder and how it impacts an individual and their family highly preferred
Certification
Must be certified by the appropriate accredited certifying body (QMA, EMT, CNA, MA, Paramedic, Pharmacy Technician) in the State of Indiana, or be enrolled in a program to become qualified within 6 months of the start of employment.
Other Requirements
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting
Must be able to demonstrate the effective use of Aspire's Electronic Health Record (EHR)
