Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
Essential Healthcare Solutions is seeking qualified Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs), or psychiatric technicians, to provide direct care and support to patients with behavioral and emotional disorders in various settings like hospitals, clinics, and addiction treatment centers. BHTs implement treatment plans, observe client behavior, and assist clients with daily activities, often under the supervision of nurses and other mental health professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide hands-on care and support to patients exhibiting behavioral or emotional challenges.
Continuously observe and document patient behavior, alerting supervisors to any changes or issues.
Implement behavioral interventions and treatment plans developed by therapists and other treatment team members.
Assist clients with daily activities, communication, and adherence to their treatment programs. Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) certification.

Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management systems (EHR, scheduling, inventory).
Ability to obtain and maintain necessary clearances and credentials required for access to detention facilities.
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and have resided in the US for 3 years in the past 5 years.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be able to multitask, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) preferred.
Associate's degree in a health care-related field.
Experience preferably in correctional, detention, military, or government-contracted healthcare environments.
Knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations, detention facility healthcare standards, and government contracting compliance.
Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been granted
Favorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.
DHS or ICE detention center experience
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to ascend/descend stairs
Visual acuity required to complete paperwork and computer work.
Work is performed in a secure detention facility.

Position Summary
Under supervision, the Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for assisting with the daily functions of the program unit and patient care working within a treatment team model. The Behavioral Health Technician, following
AODA/Mental Health program policies and procedures, provides direct services to clients, and following through on previously determined AODA/Mental Health goals. The Behavioral Health Technician must conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner in keeping with program and company philosophies and policies. Follow program policies of the program
Process admissions, reviewing client's rights and responsibilities, checking belongings and conducting a urine analysis for all incoming clients
Provide daily client care by managing a caseload of clients
Administer medications within the Program
Chart admissions and interactions with clients through at least a note per shift, and any significant interaction
Complete communication log for your shift, and conduct a thorough 30 minute shift report
Ensure each client receives a discharge summary, and leave with all their belongings and medications
Maintain a safe, secure, clean environment for clients and staff. Turn down and prepare each room for the incoming clients
Maintain familiarity with client AODA/Mental Health treatment/service plans and assist in follow through of the clients' goals.
Maintain all required certifications.
Intervene in AODA/Mental Health crisis situations.
Maintain effective working relationships with members of program team.
With direction, assist in referring clients to appropriate AODA/Mental Health services.
Assist clinicians/supervisors, when directed.
Plan and participate in program groups, recreation, and other activities with the staff, as assigned.
Transport clients to appointments, meetings, or organized events and drive to pick-up medications using the company vehicle

Position Overview:
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is a health care professional who provides specific services in the Surgery Department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The CST is active in the patient care process and collaborates with the RN to deliver quality and safe health care. The CST understands the surgery environment and patient care process. They provide care while meeting physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and educational needs of the patient and family. The CST collaborates with the RN to modify the plan of care based on the needs of the patient and reports changes in the patient's condition to the RN.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Keeps updated on current patient care practice, medications, and legal issues.
* Follows best practice recommendations including but not limited to: AORN, AST, Perioperative Guidelines and organization wide policies and procedures.
* Works closely with the surgeon while recognizing surgeon preferences and preference card details.
* In coordination with the RN, assembles the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment for the surgical procedure. Checks that all equipment is functioning properly before use. Notifies RN of defects, removes defective equipment from the patient care area, labels and documents defect and need for repair in order to maintain a safe environment.
* Practices safe site surgery techniques including but not limited to time out standard work and stops the line when safety issues or concerns with patient care occur.
* Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the RN in accordance to policy/procedure.
* Consults with the RN to revise surgeon preference cards.
* Demonstrates an understanding of surgical Applies knowledge to set up cases by pre-operative scrubbing, gowning, gloving, instrumentation, sutures, assisting surgeons with gowning and gloving, draping patients, and/or assisting surgeon with draping; intra-operative coordinating and passing of instrumentation and being alert to the needs of the surgeon, post-operative drape removal from patient, removal of contaminated instruments and transport to the decontamination room for processing, safe disposal of all sharps, and proper disposal of trash and linen.
* Is constantly vigilant to the safety needs of the patient and takes necessary precautions as warranted.
* Follows recommended infection control/prevention procedures.
* Follows department specific policies, procedures, standard work and assists in updating the standard work content as needed.
* Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
* Has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field.

* Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
* Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room.
* Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
* Participates in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure.
* Secures tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.
* Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions utilized during the surgical procedure.

* Applies electrocautery to clamps on bleeders.
* Cuts suture material as directed by the surgeon.
* Coordinates the camera or changes out robotic arms/instruments during endoscopic surgery as directed by the surgeon.
* Prepares and passes off specimen(s) as appropriate.
* Review the patient's chart, identifies patient, verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms, and brings the patient to the assigned operating room.
* Assists with transferring patient to the operating room table.
* Monitors the comfort of the patient and provides verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient.
* Assists with positioning the patient, using appropriate equipment and anatomical principles to avoid patient injury.
* Assists with applying tourniquets and monitors before the procedure.
* Anticipates additional supplies needed during the procedure.
* Attends focus board and mandatory staff meetings and completes educational requirements of Winona Health.

What you will do:
Assist the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions of patients with heart disease.
Act as a patient advocate by assisting the physician and RN with procedures, assessment of patient status, and communication of information in a way that fosters individualized patient care in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities
Based on state regulations and completion of required training/certification, Medication Aides/Techs will administer or assist with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider and observe/report responses to your supervisor.
Certified Medication Aides/Techs make sure the medication supply room is organized and clean, assist with medication cart audits, and provide accurate counts of all medications. You will also communicate with pharmacies to coordinate medication delivery.

WHEN / WHERE
Class will start on August 26 and run through December 2.
The first assignments are due on August 25, with the first in-person meeting on August 26.
Final testing will take place on December 2.
Learning will primarily take place on online with MANDATORY in-person skills lab sessions on TUESDAYS from 5-9:30pm.
Patient contacts are an essential part to the course. Students will register for ride-along slots that occur outside of class time.
EXPECTATIONS
You will attend ALL skills lab sessions.
You will login to MyBRADY a minimum of 3x/week.
You will submit all required assignments prior to participating in that week's skills lab.
You will take responsibility for your own learning. Online learning is not a fit for all learners. You must be a self-starter to complete this course. There is a lot of information to cover in a short amount of time. In-person sessions are for skills, but you are responsible for learning the material beforehand.
REQUIREMENTS
A valid American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider CPR card (which must remain valid for the duration of class). This course may be taken through WAAS, with your course instructor, for an additional fee.
Reliable access to the internet and a laptop computer. A mobile device will not grant you complete access to our online classroom.
Must be 18 years old by December 2, 2025.

Included in the cost is: background check, Fisdap testing software, textbook and online testing software, and a uniform shirt
Costs not included in the class fee: EMS pants and boots which are needed for all in-person activities. Primes dialyzer with saline or heparinized solution to prepare machine for use.
Transports patients to dialysis room and positions patient on lounge chair at hemodialysis machine.

Explains dialysis procedure and operation of hemodialysis machine to patient before treatment to allay anxieties.
Cleans area of access per unit policy/procedure.
Places needles as delegated by the RN.
Connects hemodialysis machine to vascular access or catheter site to start blood circulating through dialyzer.
Inspects equipment settings, including pressures, conductivity, and temperature to ensure conformance to safety standards.
Starts blood flow pump at prescribed rate.
Inspects venous and arterial pressures as registered on equipment to ensure pressures are within established limits.
Calculates fluid removal or replacement to be achieved during dialysis procedure.
Monitors patient for adverse reaction and hemodialysis machine for malfunction.
