    BACS is seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) and Licensed Psychiatric Technicians (LPT) for full-time positions at our community behavioral health programs and crisis treatment programs working with homeless individuals. The Nursing Coordinator is part of a mental and health care team providing medical case management coordination and care to participants. Location: OAKLAND Full time 40 hrs. (must be okay with weekend availability) Responsibilities: Triage participants at intake/assessment and throughout respite stay. Administer psychotropic medication injections, order medications, and coordinate with the treatment team. Support participants and treatment team with access to refills acting as a liaison between pharmacies and insurance. Provide support, education, and medical information to staff, participants, caregivers, and family. Aid participants in understanding their medical needs and help them plan for coordination of care with PCPs. Document all participants' treatment and interactions accurately and completely. Establish a harmonious and collaborative working relationship with the participant and treatment team. Embrace diversity in all aspects and work positively using a teamwork approach. Develop procedures for monitoring participants on antipsychotic medications. Qualifications: LVN or LPT certification from accredited nursing school and current CA license. Student trainees/interns will benefit from training in a clinical setting by integrating their coursework with relevant examples in case management, community outreach, crisis support, and psychotherapy for individuals and families. Trainees/interns will also have the opportunity to learn key skills for successfully navigating a dynamic community mental health system of care: * Medi-Cal industry-standard documentation requirements * High-quality treatment planning * Electronic record keeping * Community-responsive skills and tools Students may apply for field placement in one of two clinical service areas: * Adult Mental Health Team: Trainees/interns will gain educational experience in the clinic at the Adult Mental Health Center and in various community settings including homes, board and care facilities, shelters, and the streets. Services are provided to Berkeley residents over the age of 18 who are dealing with severe mental illness. Incoming first-year graduate students are welcome to apply for placement with this team. * High School Health Centers: Trainees/interns will gain educational experience at the Health Centers located at Berkeley High School and Berkeley Technology Academy. Services at the Health Center include individual counseling, crisis assessment, group counseling, collateral work with parents/caregivers and school staff, and outreach.
