Job Description
As an operating room tech (ORT), you'll help with surgical operations before, during and/or after the procedure. Working in the operating room of a hospital or outpatient surgery center, you may have duties that include prepping the OR, surgical tools, and equipment, helping nurses and surgeons scrub in, keeping up with equipment during surgery, maintaining sterile conditions, assisting with tools during surgery, cleaning the OR after surgery, and transporting patients to and from surgery. You'll play a critical role in preventing illness, providing moral support, promoting health and wellness, and educating patients and families.

The Radiology Technologist , with a limited radiology technician license, performs x-rays in the diagnostic setting following established radiologic and regulatory requirements to ensure patient and staff safety and provides support for clinic operations (clinical and clerical) as directed and based on training, education, and competency.
The Limited Radiologic Technologist
Performs x-ray on patients for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes within the licensed scope of practice, as directed by provider.
Operates highly specialized equipment, including DR (Digital Radiography) and PACS (Patient Archive Communication System).
Ensures equipment is in good working order and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Reports concerns or malfunctions to practice manager and submits appropriate work order.
Performs quality control checks/audits on radiologic equipment.
Maintains records/logs of activities, including x-rays sent out to other facilities.
Maintains neat, clean, and well stocked work area.
Prepares patient for radiologic imaging, including patient identification, order verification, explaining of the procedure and answering patient questions.
Positions patient and adjusts equipment to acquire quality images of body area, as ordered by provider.
Observes patient during exams for discomfort or distress and takes appropriate action.
Interacts with electronic medical record for patient orders and inputs appropriate data.
Responds to provider's questions regarding exams.
Maintains competency in all areas of responsibility, by seeking regular continuing education, completing Carilion Clinic annual in-services, and annual competencies.
May perform venipuncture and cardiac monitoring for imaging.
Follows established radiation protection processes and the ALARA principle.
May occasionally travel to nearby centers to receive training and/or provide work coverage.
What We Require:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from an accredited school or program of Radiological Sciences - Limited.
Experience: None required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Limited Medical Radiology Technician license in the State of Virginia, required. Ability to obtain AHA BLS-HCP certification within 30 days of hire, required.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a member of the nephrology healthcare team, you will provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Sets up, tests, and operates hemodialysis machines for patient treatments.
• Obtains and documents necessary pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weight for each patient.
• Evaluates vascular access pre-treatment and performs vascular access cannulation.

• Evaluates patient prior to termination of venous access and discontinues dialysis treatment according to established procedures.

• Collects, labels, appropriately prepares, and stores lab samples according to required laboratory specifications.
• Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
• Assists other healthcare members in providing patient education.
• Prepares, organizes, and efficiently uses supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
EDUCATION AND LICENSES:

10 West is a 28 bed Medical-Surgical unit primarily consists of the geriatric population with a wide range of medical diagnoses. Together we work as a team to ensure the needs of our patients are met. The care we provide includes assistance with activities of daily living and maintaining a safe and comfortable space to heal as our patients transition home or to skilled-care facilities.
This position is full time, working the night shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays
A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available when external candidate meets applicable guidelines.
As part of the health care team, the PatientCareTechnician performs basic clerical and technical clinical services relating to the care, cleanliness, safety, and comfort for patients of all ages. Provides quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patientcare.
Provides basic nursing care and performs advanced technical skills for specified age groups according to established standards. Assists patients with activities of daily living. Appropriately documents and reports patient observations to licensed staff.
Transports patients, supplies, specimens, equipment, etc. within the facility.

Assists in coordination of patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Is aware of unit outcomes and metrics and promotes process improvement initiatives that add value to our outcomes and/or organizational mission
Welcomes and assists patients and visitors; assists with registration. Serves as “face” of the unit; role models service excellence behaviors at all times.
Demonstrates excellent telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills when answering phones and interacting with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals. Receives and screens incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls to appropriate individuals and takes messages accurately
Monitors cleanliness of the waiting and break rooms, and performs safety/environmental rounds on unit and with multidisciplinary team members
Participates in the sitter process (if competencies appropriate).
Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance. (refrigerator, glucose meters, equipment room storage, assisting with code cart checks as assigned etc
May be responsible for phlebotomy (competency appropriate)
May conduct nonsterile wound care dressings (competency appropriate)
May replace and remove saline locks (competency appropriate)
May do colostomy bag changes (competency appropriate).
Job Scope:
May be required to support multiple nursing units. Interacts with unit staff, patients, physicians, families, visitors, management, ancillary departments, and the general public. Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality. You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift (Rotating Weekends)
Shift Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (CVOR) to join our dynamic surgical team. This role is critical to providing safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care, particularly in cardiovascular operating rooms and obstetric procedures. The ideal candidate brings expertise in surgical instrumentation, sterile techniques, and a strong commitment to patientcare and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures and maintain a sterile environment.
Scrub for C-sections and assist in other obstetric and cardiovascular procedures.
Demonstrate proficiency in surgical instrumentation and aseptic technique.
Register and pre-register obstetric patients; accurately process patient information.
Assist with infant testing and tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of equipment and the physical environment.
Demonstrate initiative in continuing education and professional development.
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (or grandfathered per state guidelines).
Surgical Technologist license (State of Virginia) required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including active listening.
Physically able to stand, bend, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
