SUMMARY: The Health Technician works closely with each of the clients and clinical, on an individual basis, providing assistance in the areas of group facilitation, providing transportation and medical appointment scheduling, as well as overall client health.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observation of clients, charting and reporting changes in clients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or recording a change in treatment, and taking any necessary action
Record withdrawal symptoms, and record collected data
Collecting UA samples to prepare for the lab
Educate clients regarding prescriptions and medication management (Licensed Personnel Only)
Measure and record clients' vital signs
Ensure accurate documentation on medication observations orders and monitor medication audits/counts and inventory
Record data and communicate with physician for medical clearance in relation to treatment, planning and discharge
Observe client concerns and recommend client to emergency medical care when necessary
Perform inventory check and maintenance of supplies and over the counter medication supplies, responsible for requesting inventory and requisitioning supplies/instruments
Client documentation and summary reporting at shift end
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ADA and Joint Commission policies and procedures, boundaries and client and company confidentiality
Other duties as requested by leadership
Attends in-service training, educational workshops, and staff meetings
Assist client with filling/refilling prescriptions
Assist client with making outside appointments for medical care/management
Coordinate transportation for outside appointments/ordered labs

Behavioral Health Technicians have a valid RADT-1 Certification or equivalent upon hire
Must have valid California driver's license

Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff

Compensation:

Full-time team members receive $500 per month in team bonuses if we hit our monthly team revenue and individual performance goals. Team members are also eligible for annual bonuses which are a combination of cash and stock options.

Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients' needs.
Turn or reposition bedridden patients.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Six (6) months of experience, within the last three (3) years, in a hospital, clinic or in a SNF/Home Health setting as a nurse assistant, care partner, medical assistant or student nurse with one semester in a clinical setting.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate, per hospital policy, during initial training/orientation but not to exceed 30 days from hire/transfer.
Current California State Nurse Assistant certification preferred
A solid understanding of human anatomy, basic medical terminology, and rehabilitation principles is desired.

Reports any problems with equipment to the house supervisor. Assists the house supervisor/nurse manager when families wish to view bodies: removes body from morgue and places in the viewing room. Ensures that the area is clean and prepared for the family. Ensures linen on the patient is clean. Prepares the body to be viewed, eg open shroud, adjust lighting.
Provides break coverage for unit secretaries or other PCT's and comparable positions
Assists with transfers ensuring secure and complete transfer: collects personal belongings, assists patient to wheelchair/gurney, accompanies patient to new room, provides patient with call light
Transports deceased patients to the morgue: identifies the body per policy.
Activates and participates in emergency response situations as directed by policy.

PatientCare Activities:
Perform routine dialysis procedures, including:
Insertion of fistula needles
Initiation and termination of treatments
Administer Heparin and Normal Saline per physician order and protocol.
Conduct and document pre-dialysis safety tests accurately.
Monitor and record:
Blood flow rates
Machine pressures
Heparin dosages
Blood pressure readings during treatment
Make frequent rounds to patients, anticipating needs, responding to calls, and managing audible or visual equipment alarms.
Ensure all dialysis machine safety parameters are correctly set and maintained.
Assist in positioning, lifting, and turning of patients using proper body mechanics.
Take and record vital signs before, during, and after the dialysis procedure.
Monitor patient status throughout treatment and immediately report any abnormal signs or symptoms to the nurse.
Obtain and properly label blood specimens; complete laboratory requisitions.
Spin blood specimens in a centrifuge, as required.
Complete all required documentation accurately and report any unusual events to the supervisor.

Scope of Work:
The Certified Hemodialysis Technician, under the direction and supervision of the Dialysis Nurse, assists with providing care and delegates activities of treatment to patients with renal failure
Responsibilities and Expectations:
Assist with clinical and operational procedures to improve patient health and minimize hospitalizations and missed treatments
Demonstrates effective use of supplies and staff labor hours
Obtain blood samples, centrifuge samples, and pack labs as required to complete physician orders
Provide patient education as needed under the direction of the Facility Administrator or Dialysis Nurse within scope of practice
Perform assigned duties under the supervision of the Dialysis Nurse to meet the patientcare and/or operational needs of the facility and within scope of practice in accordance with company policies and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Follow policies and procedures for personal protective equipment (PPE) use
Setup hemodialysis machines according to policies and procedures
Respond to visual and audio alarms on machines; troubleshoot machine alarms
Remove disposables and clean station after each treatment following policies and procedures
Be familiar with emergency equipment and participate in all emergency operational measures
Obtain pre and post treatment weight of patient per policies and procedures
Safely initiate and terminate dialysis treatments per prescription while policies and procedures, and within scope of practice as allowed by state regulations
Monitor all patients during dialysis treatments at a minimum of every 30-minutes or per policies and procedures with accurate documentation
Follow polices and procedures for acid and bicarbonate preparations
Maintain Hemodialysis supplies as needed and assist in keeping supply room clean and organized
Conduct water testing on dialysis machines per policies and procedures. Document quality control logs throughout the day and after all treatments, as required per policies and procedures
Report any significant information or change in patient condition to the Dialysis Nurse and take appropriate action
Report machine problems to the Biomedical Technician and Facility Administrator
Participate in staff meetings as required. Attend in-services and continuing education sessions in compliance with company policies and procedures
Participate in team concepts and promote a team environment
Perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures
Expected to report to work on scheduled day at scheduled time, working entire shift as per attendance policy
