Responds to supervisor, Lead BHT, and charge nurse on duty in order to continually monitor safety and interact appropriately with adult and adolescent patients on a 24/7 behavioral health care unit.
Assists with patient care management and records progress toward treatment plan objectives using the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Lead and monitor therapeutic groups and leisure and exercise activities. Record in EHR, as required.
Interacts respectfully and in a dignified manner with all patients, staff, visitors, etc.
Complete intake/admission process:
Security/safety checks.
Conduct search of patient and belongings for contraband.
Enter information into EHR.
Complete inventory of personal belongings.
Explain consents and other documents required during admission and get patient and/or guardian signatures, as needed.
Obtain and document vital signs.
Maintain general cleanliness of the unit, laundry, making beds, infection control routines, etc.
Redirect patient(s) behavior in a firm, yet respectful manner, participate in verbal-de-escalation, and work as a team to implement Handle with Care (HWC) non-violent interventions to fidelity, when needed to assist Security Technicians.
Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA and 42-CFR).
Responsible for routine tasks around the unit, as directed by supervisor, Lead BHT, or charge nurse on duty.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor.
Monitor patient behaviors and interactions.

Your Role:

The Patient Care Technician I advocates for clients, ensuring that the clients psychosocial needs are being addressed while participating in clinical trials and assists with retention of clients in research.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Assess research participants' current psychosocial needs and identify the case management needs.
Assisting clients with discharge planning as needed.

Completing Discharge Summaries for client discharging from the CRU (Clinical Research Unit). Ensuring that all information, medications, follow-up appointments are accurate, and informing treatment providers, care providers, family, referral sources of discharge.
Coordinating transportation for discharge, appointments off unit (visit to SSI office, interview for housing), doctor appointments and ensuring all calendars are updated with necessary information.
Assisting clients with other miscellaneous needs while on the unit (paying rent, paying bills, checking in with probation officers, purchasing items to maintain ADLs, obtaining clothes from shelters etc.)
Coordinating, supervising and documenting family meetings, case manager visits to the CRU.
Assisting with completion of applications for healthcare coverage, social security and food stamps.
Develop relationships with the representatives in other agencies to support research participants in attaining services such as housing, additional mental health care, medication, medical resources, financial assistance, legal advocacy, or other as needed.
Develop and manage weekly groups with inpatient clients focusing on psychosocial needs.
Updating database upon discharge from CRU and/or study termination to ensure all information about subject (i.e disposition, medication, insurance, etc) is accurate and current.

Reapply electrodes as needed and trouble shoot equipment issues during the night/ call tech support to ensure a quality study is collected.
Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.).
Ability to identify and meet patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history.
Explain testing procedures and educate patients about sleep disorders.
Document routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
Comply with the AASM and BRPT Standards of Conduct.

Responds to crisis situations using verbal or physical intervention techniques appropriate to the level of the situation at hand.

Job Description
Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Medical Technologist (Med Tech) for a top Healthcare client.
This crucial laboratory role performs stat and routine clinical testing across multiple disciplines, including Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology, under the direction of laboratory leadership. The Technologist applies theoretical concepts using independent judgment to ensure the timely and accurate release of results, maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and quality in all operations.
Job Responsibilities
Perform timely and accurate stat and routine clinical laboratory testing across licensed technical disciplines (Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology).
Utilize independent judgment and theoretical concepts to interpret and correlate patient results, including performing delta checks and resolving pending logs.
Ensure strict adherence to written procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality control protocols, completing necessary documentation and corrective actions.
Operate all laboratory equipment correctly, perform periodic maintenance, and troubleshoot basic equipment malfunctions promptly.
Assist supervisors in meeting departmental regulatory agency requirements (e.g., CAP) and maintaining supply inventories.
Maintain licensure, competency, and regulatory knowledge, supporting department goals for service, quality, and financial performance.
Handle all problem and/or critical laboratory specimens/test results according to established procedures and within established turnaround time targets.
Requirements
Education
Two (2) Year / Associate Degree is required.
Four (4) Year / Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Medical Technologist is required.
Certifications/Licenses
A State of Florida Technologist License is required OR the proven ability to obtain a license during the interview/onboarding process is mandatory.
Licensure, competency, and regulatory schedule must be maintained in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology sections.
Skills
Proven ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results.
Proficiency in information system computer functions relative to job duties (e.g., reviewing OSR and result logs).
Strong organizational skills to perform duties consistent with documented procedures and regulatory requirements.
