2009

The parent company, Beachcomber Croisieres Limited, had previously acquired the cruise line in 2009.

2011

On September 30, 2011 the company announced the acquisition of a second ship.

2012

The ship was christened as Tere Moana in December 2012.

2015

In June 2015, the company announced the sale of the Tere Moana, leaving the Paul Gauguin as its only ship.

2019

In 2019 the cruise line was purchased by Compagnie du Ponant.

2020

In May 2020, the Paul Gauguin was scheduled to enter a drydock to be readied for the use of a cleaner fuel type (LS MGO – Low-Sulphur Marine Gas Oil) and upgrades in the guest area.

A news report on 3 August 2020 stated that the COVID-19 virus had been detected on the Paul Gaugin while it was in Papeete, Tahi, and ; passengers were required to stay in their cabins.
