    Senior Accountant Salary Range: $65,500.00-$75,000.00 FLSA Status: Exempt REPORTS TO: Controller AGENCY SUMMARY: BrightSpark Early Learning Services has been at the forefront of the early learning landscape for 30 years ensuring that all children have equitable access to safe, engaging, and positive early learning experiences that promote school readiness and lifetime success. With a staff of 140 and a budget of $30 million (99% publicly funded), BrightSpark Early Learning Services provides a broad array of services for families and childcare providers so that they in turn can support the development and well-being of our children. OPPORTUNITY: The Senior Accountant position will be responsible for: weekly AP checks and vouchers process, reconcile GL accounts monthly and prepare adjustment entries. Maintain and update cost allocation center by working closely with program managers and project leaders. Maintain fixed assets report and prepare monthly depreciation schedule. Prepare operating lease contracts schedule and input monthly lease assets right and liability entries. Prepare monthly revenue entries for government grants and private contracts, provide financial report for program manager as needed. Leading annual audit and government contract monitoring process and preparing material and information as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee weekly Accounts Payable checks and EFT Payments process and ensures all files, ledgers and registers are maintained. Review all vendors' addresses, I-9 and bank EFT information once vendor's information has been entered by Data, Reporting & Compliance Administrator. Process monthly closing entries - MIS, HR and Admin allocation, prepare transactions for government grant and program contract revenue. Leading and collaborating annual audit and contract monitoring process, preparing audit schedules and proper financial information. Reconcile All Balance sheet accounts monthly - bank accounts, prepaid and all AP liability accounts, 5 days after month-end closing, and prepare proper adjustment entries. Prepare and create a “CSV Positive Pay File” weekly for AP checks and upload to Bank Portal for Chief Administrative Officer to review and submit to the bank. Prepare and submit an Unclaimed Property report each year to Washington State Unclaimed Property Department. Process remote deposit weekly via bank scanner. Maintains fixed assets distribution and items and calculates fixed assets depreciation each month. Updates cities business licenses each year for BrightSpark Early Learning Services physical locations and for other BrightSpark Early Learning Services satellite offices in different cities. Updates and renew Secretary of State Annual Corporation filling and Charitable Organization each year. Updates and renews “System for Federal Award Management” (SAM) annually, and other licensing as required. Enter and prepare all Cash Disbursement entries into accounting system with proper documentation as attachment. Updates and maintains agency banks and set up and test new bank information into accounting system for Accounts Payable, Payroll, tax payment to IRS and test remote deposit and positive pay file on banks secure portal. Setup distribution for each credit card holder and CSV file downloads for agency credit cards vendors on AP Microix. Maintain operating lease contracts, prepare lease rights and liability entries monthly. Maintain Receivable accounts for Government Grants and private contracts, follow up outstanding receivable due over 30 days. Preparation of AP 1099 annually. Maintain AP outstanding checks and follow up with vendors when O/S issued over 30 days. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in accounting Desired Qualifications Master's Degree in accounting or Master's Degree in Business Administration Certified Public Accountant Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Qualifications Excellent skills in GL account reconciliation, all accounting functions process, monthly and yearly closing process, annual audit process. understand accounting policies, procedures, and internal control apply to daily accounting functions process. familiar with fund accounting, government contract compliances and regulations, such as: cost principles, procurement process.
