Paulo company history timeline

1943

Ben and Pauline Rassieur found Paulo Products Company in 1943, offering heat treating services using homemade salt baths and second-hand tempering furnaces out of a rented space at 2907 Washington Ave. in St Louis.

1948

In 1948, the company builds its first plant at 5711 W. Park Ave. in St Louis, which still stands.

1951

The São Paulo Biennial, which began in 1951, is one of the largest international art exhibitions in the Southern Hemisphere, held every other October in the Ciccillo Matarazzo Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park.

1983

Paulo purchases Olin Metal Products in Murfreesboro, TN in 1983.

1988

Three more plants are purchased from United States Steel Supply in 1988 in Birmingham, AL; Cleveland, OH and Nashville, TN.

2004

The Palace lies at the park’s northern tip, and the prosaic former city hall (the city headquarters has been housed in the Matarazzo Building since 2004) faces it across a lake.

2019
