  • Production team member

    Assist furnace operators in all aspects of their job, including loading, unloading, racking, lifting, and moving parts and baskets into and out of furnaces and around the plant. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Operate forklift and material handling equipment to transport material to staging area. * Load, wash and rack production parts to prepare for heat treatment or metal finishing. * Apply various coatings to production parts to prepare them for heat treating. * Unload and re-pack finished parts in customer containers for shipment. * Recognize parts which ae cracked distorted, or which are cracked, distorted, or have an unacceptable appearance. * Analyze alloy for straightening and repair. * Preform straightening of alloy. * Operate dry honing equipment to clean customer's parts - wheelabrater, shot peen and blast. * Communicate problems to supervisor and operator. * Maintain good housekeeping practices and keep area orderly. * May be called upon to operate Nitro-Carb line as needed, which may include: * Start up and shut down equipment and perform tests, minor repairs, routine maintenance, and adjustments to equipment as required. * Monitor and adjust controls on furnace equipment based on work order specifications. * Ensure necessary information on logs, shop orders, furnace charts, etc. is being completed correctly. * Check wash tanks for proper concentration and skimmer operation. * Prepare samples and ensure that proper random in-process samples are used for inspection. Qualifications Qualifications: * Requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. License(s)/Certification(s) Required: * Must be able to obtain a forklift certification. Experience: * On-the-job training is required for this position. * Must be available for all shifts.     Install, maintain, and repair all furnaces, equipment, and buildings in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and specifications, utilizing knowledge of electrical equipment, piping, and welding. Install and troubleshoot building electrical systems and electronic equipment. Perform all maintenance activities in a safe manner. Key Responsibilities: * Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, piping, refrigeration, and chemical systems on all equipment and building. * Read and log all meters on equipment. * Perform and document preventative maintenance inspections and operations on all meters, gauges, recorders, charts, filters, belts, grease fittings, quench oil levels, lubrication levels, thermocouple checks, furnace internals, furnace mechanisms, safety devices, etc. to maintain proper work performance and a longer working life. * Install and move all equipment systems using forklifts, hoists, etc. * Fabricate tanks, fixtures, conveyors, furnaces, and other equipment using welding equipment, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and other fabrication equipment. * Lay out and install piping systems for all equipment using pipe threading machines, silver solder, hand tools, lifting platforms, etc. * Unload, transport, and store fabrication materials to desired locations using forklifts, hoists, hand trucks, etc. * Install, repair, and replace fire brick. * Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and air-operated problems. * Maintain good housekeeping in work area and promote 5S activities in the Maintenance shop area. * Move office equipment and/or supplies to various office locations. * Travel to and participate in job-related meetings, conventions, training, etc. Such travel may require overnight stays of one or more nights. Qualifications Qualifications: * Two-year technical college degree. * Thorough knowledge of electrical systems and electronics, pipe-fitting, instrumentation, temperature control devices, and welding may be accepted in lieu of degree. License(s)/Certification(s) Required: * Must be able to obtain a forklift certification. Experience: * Two years experience in welding, electronics, and electrical systems. * Five years experience in an industrial environment. * Must be available for all shifts.     Perform duties required to operate, monitor, load and unload heat treating furnaces, tempering equipment, and cleaning equipment according to specifications, quality requirements, and production schedules; and perform duties required to inspect items processed. Key Responsibilities: * Read production log and notes from previous shift to determine setup or changeover requirements. * Start up, regulate and shut down equipment in such a way as to avoid damage in excess of normal wear and tear. * Set, monitor, and regulate equipment following production schedules, shop orders, or other instructions; adjust as necessary to maximize equipment performance, documenting adjustments accurately. * Integrate department work with other departments to cause minimum disruption and to reduce processing time. * Load parts, or direct loading of parts by other workers, checking loads to ensure parts are racked properly prior to loading into equipment. * Monitor and document settings on shop orders; record required entries including processing changes on the shop orders; store paperwork adequately; and initial and date all entries. * Add soap and soluble oil to respective tanks as necessary; check wash tanks for proper skimmer operation. * Inspect in-process work using the proper samples to ensure it meets customer requirements; document inspection results; tag parts as required. * Recognize parts which are cracked, distorted, or have an unacceptable appearance. * Repackage parts, or direct unloading and repackaging by other workers. * Transfer finished work to the appropriate staging or shipping area. * Straighten furnace baskets. * Log all activities accurately. * Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as required. * Assist Supervisor in training with new employees. * Basic equipment troubleshooting. * May be called upon to participate in special activities such as Chemical Inventories, Fire Extinguisher Inspections, Dew Point checks, LPA auditing, Safety/Environmental Committee, or special team projects. Qualifications Knowledge: * Practical heat treating knowledge required. Read and understand blueprints. Education: * High school diploma or GED required. Experience: * On-the-job training is required for this position. License(s)/Certification(s) Required: * Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
