Position Overview As a Senior Production Technician on the Plant Operations team, you will be a hands-on leader responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of hydropower plant equipment and systems. In addition to technical expertise, youll play a key mentoring roleguiding junior technicians and setting high standards in safety, reliability, and performance. Key Responsibilities Lead the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of hydropower generation stations. Perform and oversee complex maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks on turbines and associated systems. Supervise gate changes and ensure accurate, timely documentation. Monitor and report critical conditions and instrument readings during periods of significant runoff to support real-time decision-making. Plan and execute station and dam operations with strict adherence to safety protocols. Diagnose and resolve hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues; provide technical recommendations. Lead the implementation of a comprehensive equipment quality assessment and issue reporting program. Act as a contractor liaison as needed, reporting to supervisors or project managers. Ensure team compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) protocols. Operate in compliance with FERC regulations and support site readiness. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior Production Technicians. Set and model high standards in adaptability, professionalism, and response to emergencies or shifting priorities. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in hydropower operations with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience in rigging, lifting, welding, and electrical repair is a plus. Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in both independent and collaborative environments. Valid drivers license and willingness to travel regionally, including occasional overnight stays. A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. Primary Function: AIS is recruiting protected species observers (PSO) to deploy on a vessel during seafloor deepening operations in the Thames River in Connecticut. AIS is looking for individuals with NMFS PSO approval letters to stand watch during while the vessel is under way to record data on protected species sightings and implement mitigation measures during blasting operations when necessary. The PSO will be stationed on a vessel during daylight operations. Duties include but are not limited to identification of protected species, documenting location, documenting behavior and other essential data; implementing mitigation measures as required, documenting data on logs in an organized manner. Candidates will be selected based on their past experience identifying protected species. Operations will be conducted during daylight hours only and PSO will have an average of 8-10 hours of work per day. This position is expected to start November 1, 2025 and continue through January 2026 with operations requiring PSO taking place 2 days per week. Duties/Responsibilities: Identify marine animals using the naked eye and visual technology. Ability to vigilantly monitor for visual detections of marine mammals around observation location for up to 10 hours in a 24-hour period. Documenting behavior and other essential data Documenting data on logs in an organized manner Operate and maintain field equipment including Garmin GPS, binoculars with reticles, range finder, and high-resolution digital camera with video capabilities. Conduct personal QA/QC checks on data collected. Attend daily toolbox, HSE and project related meetings as needed. Compensation: Candidates will be paid an hourly rate to be negotiated.
