Verifying and organizing new/re hires. Process multiple weekly union/non-union payrolls with more than 200+ employees including multiple companies. WHAT YOU'LL DO: New/Re Hire Organization Prior to input, verify accuracy of new/re hire paperwork. Follow up with missing or incomplete paperwork. E-Verify Re/New Hires. Scan and index new/re hire and current employee files/maintenance. Scanning and indexing timecards for weekly error report. Correct weekly error report. Ensure backfill is complete. Essential Functions * Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures * Support payroll tax withholding activities including data entry and reporting and payment processing * Process payroll tax withholding forms, including W-4, NC-4 and IRS Form 8233 * Process and analyze time records, garnishments, and payroll corrections for omissions, completeness, and accuracy; research or follow up on any missing/incomplete/inaccurate submissions * Submit timely entry of miscellaneous payments utilizing standard form (e.g. extended employment, community use of schools, school to pay, etc.) * Run a variety of reports to confirm data accuracy * Complete assigned tasks to support quarterly tax returns and salary audits * Provide quality customer service in customer interactions including thorough research, responsiveness, timeliness, and accuracy * Coordinate governance meetings and document key outcomes and actions * Schedule command center meetings to triage issues and ensure readiness for upcoming events * Manage disbursement of garnishments and other deductions to ensure timely and accurate receipt by governmental agencies and other vendors * Communicate technical pay details to employees by utilizing payroll knowledge * Collaborate with Planning and Workforce Management (PWM) to ensure payroll corrections are processed with accurate budget codes * Assist in tracking issues and actions on log from Payroll, HR, and Technology integration meetings * Ensure appropriate leadership awareness of any payroll related concerns and issues * Prepare written responses to resolve issues and questions * Work proactively with staff from other departments to resolve customer service challenges and issues as they arise * Answer questions or escalate complex questions to management or appropriate personnel * Complete government inquiry forms * Manage month-end close reporting * Manage employee information requests * Handle cash receipts and returned items * Perform related work as assigned or required Education and Experience * High school diploma or GED required * Three (3) years payroll, customer service, or other related work experience required * Equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements * Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide own transportation * Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
