The Analyst will relay information between the team and the HRIS/Payroll Manager. For this role, it is crucial to have the ability to communicate effectively and deliver strong internal customer service while working in a deadline-driven environment.
Here's What You'll Do:
• Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and implement technology solutions that help to streamline and automate HR processes.
• Evaluates HR systems to identify points of improvement
• Perform system testing to ensure patches, upgrades and updates do not impact functionality and accuracy of payroll
• Serves as point of contact for questions regarding Payroll. Go-to subject matter expert for the system (UKG). Support end users regarding system problems, requests, issue resolution, facilitating process improvements
• Provides backup to Manager HRIS/Payroll
• Process payroll Bi-weekly and Semi-monthly pay groups
• Run and review audit reports to ensure accuracy of payroll data
• Other duties and projects as required.

Here's What You'll Need:
• 7-10 years of experience in Payroll
• Minimum education of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting
• Experience working in an agile delivery environment.
• Experience with UKG software or other Payroll applications
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Payroll Manager, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, research, analyze and retrieve data to prepare and maintain complex payroll records, summaries and reports; reconcile differences within established payroll and accounting systems using critical analysis skills; interpret, explain and comply with prescribed laws, rules, regulations, and procedures; monitor, audit, reconcile, and balance a variety of data and transactions; perform mathematical computations quickly and accurately; identify and correct errors; operate a variety of standard office equipment; set up and maintain database and related files; create spreadsheets and other related forms, reports and documents; use independent judgment to review payroll records; communicate effectively in both oral and written form; follow detailed directions; set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines; coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously; work independently and as a team member; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work; train other staff, as assigned. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of four years of payroll, Accounts Payable, or bookkeeping experience or two years of college work with concentration on business or accounting and one year of payroll, Accounts Payable, or bookkeeping experience Basic understanding of general ledger reconciliations.
Advanced knowledge of data entry and spreadsheets with the ability to develop Excel-based models designed to calculate and verify complex payroll calculations.
Solid understanding of Payroll information systems and data management.
Ability to work in high volume environment and to meet processing schedules and deadlines.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Experience with PeopleSoft (Human Capital Management) and Kronos timekeeping is highly preferred.

The Payroll Analyst performs complex payroll and tax analysis duties as it relates to the preparation, processing, closing and reconciling of Mattress Firm payroll. This individual collaborates with cross-functional partners to ensure payroll and taxes are maintained and processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential Responsibilities
Perform a variety of complex payroll duties and analysis in the application of best practice payroll processes.Analyze, review, and audit payroll to ensure accuracy.Ensure accuracy of payroll tax through regular audits and reconciliations.Work with third party vendor regarding accuracy of periodic, monthly, and quarterly tax filings and year-end W-2 data.Apply knowledge of Federal, State, Local, and ER tax regulations in reconciling payroll tax liabilities, tax audits, reporting, and final pay requirements.Manage, maintain, and audit local tax jurisdiction set-up and withholding requirements.Monitor and confirm statutory tax regulation updates and update tax rate changes.Manage garnishment outsourcing reconciling and auditing process through 3rd party vendor.Complete data driven payroll projects.Perform semi-annual review and testing of Workday updates and functionality in addition to periodic review and testing tenant config changes in Workday.Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date.Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all.Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts.Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation.Communicates any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations.
