Summary:
Under minimal supervision, the Payroll/Benefits Auditor is responsible for conducting audits to ensure that all functions of the Payroll and Benefits process is in compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts audits of all employee payroll profiles to assure that they are thoroughly completed and up-to-date in all areas.
- Conducts audits of employee working hours to assure that employee’s are meeting their employment status requirements.
- Conducts audits to ensure that all personnel who submit vacation requests have enough paid time off (PTO) to cover their health insurance. If hours will not completely cover their payment they are to ensure that the facility collects the payments to bring the employee up-to-date.
- Conducts audits to ensure that all personnel who are on a leave of absence have that identified on their employment status.
- Audits all employees on a leave to ensure the facility is collecting their health insurance benefit premiums ( if the employee does not apply for sick/paid time off or lacks a sufficient amount to cover ).
- Conducts audits to ensure that all employees who go from full-time to part-time or on-call have their benefits terminated from their deductions and from the benefits section of ADP.
- Conducts audits to ensure that upon termination of employment all areas of the employee’s profile are correctly updated including but not limited to: termination of ACA, termination of benefits in the benefits profile, last day worked is accurate, termination date is accurate, eligibility for re-hire is included, reason for termination is provided, and supplemental termination documents have been uploaded .
- Conducts audits of the employee ACA section, employment status, and of the employee benefit profile on payroll is accurate along with mitigating errors and auditing the ACA reports so the submission at the end of the year is successful and seamless.
- Conducts audits following open enrollment closure to ensure that all benefit profiles and deductions are accurately entered to reflect the changes made in open enrollment ( additions or deletions ).
- Audits benefit invoices at least monthly to ensure they are correct by comparing them against ADP to ensure the employee is being properly deducted, the employee is still active and eligible for benefits, and the benefits are listed in the benefits section of ADP. Also runs reports of all employee’s being deductions to ensure no employee is being deducted for something they are not enrolled in.
- Audits employees who have meal waivers on records to ensure the facilities are abiding by the policy and correctly removing applicable meal penalties or awarding applicable meal penalties.
- Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date record for each facilities list of employees on meal waivers and revocations of meal waivers while also ensuring locations are maintaining physical copies of each approved waiver on file.
- Ensures that when an employee adds benefits or cancels benefits, due to a qualifying event, that the deductions are properly added or removed and the benefit section of the profile is accurately updated as well.
- Maintains a list of all employees who receive paid benefits from the company for all locations. Ensures that although there is not a deduction there is information accurately reflected in the benefits profile.
- Audits paid time off and sick pay balances and accruals to ensure accuracy.
- Audits covid sick pay to ensure accuracy of the application and the balance.
- Runs reports to ensure that employees are meeting their hours for their employment status and identifies employees with zero working hours. Alerts locations of any findings and monitors any identified employees to ensure resolutions are made.
- Is responsible for alerting the facility of all errors discovered while auditing and ensures they are followed up in a timely manner.
- Will ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times due to the sensitive nature of the contents to be audited.
- Trains and Communicates new programs, interventions, and new procedures with all payroll personnel.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience of using ADP to complete payroll.
- Must be experienced in computers and Microsoft Suite applications.

The primary purpose and function of the Payroll Auditor role provides proactive auditing of all timesheet data and provide corrective solutions, training, reporting analysis, and support to hospital leadership for all hospital locations prior to bi-weekly payroll processing.
**In this role, you will:**

+ Review and analyze data from Payroll audit reports on a daily and/or weekly basis
+ Proactively reach out to hospitals with errors or incomplete payroll data to resolve prior to payroll processing
+ Build relationships of trust with individual hospital leadership and educate and support on necessary administration to ensure accurate timesheet data at a hospital level
+ Review timesheets and attendance records and correct inaccuracies
+ Ensure tax deductions, benefits and garnishments are being applied and deducted correctly
+ Analyze compensation-related data including wages and bonuses
+ Oversee payroll transactions (e.g. via e-banking)
+ Conduct regular audits at the hospital level on payroll procedures and records
+ Process benefit costs, like insurance fees and sick leaves
+ Design, document, and implement procedures to streamline payroll processes within the hospitals
+ Report to management on payroll issues and changes by the hospital, analyzing trends and reoccurring issues
+ Answer employees' questions about salaries and tax
