WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Director, Payroll & Benefits Administration, you will:
Payroll Operations:
Execute bi-weekly multi-state payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
Creates and maps payroll and time & attendance, pay and hours codes, quarter-to-date and year-to-date accumulator codes and cost/department codes.
Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures aligned with legal requirements and organizational goals.
Manage and resolve all payroll adjustments, inquiries, and deductions.
Benefits/Insurance Administration:
Manage and administer employee benefits and leave programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, retirement plans, COBRA, and FMLA.
Ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, PPACA, FMLA, OSHA and Worker's Compensation.
Monitor and implement changes in 401(k) contributions, assist with annual audit, and serve on the 401(k) Committee.
Maintain compliance with benefit and leave related regulations and ensure accurate payroll integration.
Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and coordinate payment with Finance/Accounting.
Manages Workers' Compensation insurance policies.
Reconciliations, Schedules, and JE:
Prepares the journal entries in the accounting system for the bi-weekly payroll activity, including salary & benefits allocation.
Reconciles the month end payroll bank account and completes the journal entry in the accounting system.
Performs quarterly employee Café 125 and employer pre-tax and post-tax benefits reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting on W-2 previews; coordinates adjustments with human resources as needed.
Reconciles the payroll tax, SDI and FMLI, accounts on a quarterly basis.
Provides Finance team the bi-weekly 401(k) contribution report assuring the timely and accurate submission of employee deferrals and employer matching contributions to APhA's 401(k) carrier.
Prepares the schedule for the annual Workers Comp schedule policy renewal.
ADP Workforce Now Platform Administration:
Serves as platform administrator and subject matter expert for ADP Workforce Now modules including Payroll, Time & Attendance, Benefits, and Reporting.
Develops, writes, and maintains a wide range of standard and complex data reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all datasets.

Experience and Education required:
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience is required. FPC and/or CPP from the American Payroll Association is preferred.
A minimum of 8 years of payroll and benefits administration experience within a large, and/or complex company environment.
Skills, knowledge and abilities required:
Managing operational payroll within multiple and highly regulated states
Managing and deploying payroll processing projects, including implementing new and/or upgrading existing HRIS, payroll, and time & attendance systems, preferably with ADP.

The Senior Manager of Payroll is responsible for leading and overseeing CAVA's payroll operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant pay for all team members. Summary:
The Senior PayrollSpecialist supports the Payroll Office by providing auditing and analysis for the production of assigned Biweekly and Monthly payrolls. Additional processing and analysis may include: termination payouts, auditing of off-cycle payments, overtime calculations for employees with multiple positions, calculation of retro impacts and preparation and loading of Workday Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) files. This position will also act as backup for PayrollSpecialists, and Payroll Operations Manager, and Workday Technical Analyst (as assigned). The position will review payroll data to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and university policies and procedures. Strict adherence to critical deadlines and confidentiality is required. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on Workday HCM payroll, time-tracking, and reporting experience.
This position requires interaction with the HR/Payroll Customer Service teams, HR delivery teams, managers, and employees within their respective areas of assignment across the university.
Essential Functions:
* Works independently to perform auditing steps in the production of assigned Biweekly and Monthly payrolls. Performs daily review of new hires, job changes, address changes, terminations, retro pay events, multistate tax audits, and bonus / one-time payments to proactively identify and remedy any issues before processing on-cycle payrolls.
* Researches and resolves problems concerning faculty, staff, and student employee earnings and deductions. Calculates and analyzes various wages and benefit payments such as period activity pay, separation/termination payouts, retroactive payments, multi-job overtime, short-term disability, and other miscellaneous type payments. Interacts with other departments to prepare precise and punctual payments. Responds to customer inquiries via ServiceNow, email, phone, or in person. Prepares payroll analysis sheets for customers. Monitors and answers customer inquiries from ServiceNow case queue. Prepares and processes EAP loan requests and any other monthly reports that may be required.
* Provides backup for Payroll Operations Manager, running key payroll processes such as on-cycle payroll complete and off-cycle check processing.
* Provides backup for Payroll Operations Manager and Workday Technical Analyst to troubleshoot complex Workday problems.
* Works with Workday Technical Analyst and IT Product Manager to test configuration changes.
* Requires staying abreast of checks that have been held in Payroll Office.
