An employee in this classification, under the direction of the Senior Director of Payroll, will coordinate and participate in technical payroll accounting activities. POSITION SUMMARY

Research of federal and state regulatory requirements and supports the payroll team in resolving tax, withholding, garnishment, and wage/hour issues for payroll processing. Tracks and works to correct errors in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of payroll tax withholding, minimizing potential penalties. Escalates complex issues to the Director of Payroll as appropriate.
Calculates and sets up garnishments, levies, and family court orders in UKGPro.
Generates special “off-cycle” payroll runs for State specific terminations, bonuses, etc.
Audit the WFM Time and Labor Management system for exceptions such as excessive overtime, excessive on call pay, etc
Acts as liaison to local tax authorities, financial institutions, etc
Understanding of company time off plans

The PayrollSpecialist position requires a strong background in payroll processing activities and possesses a basic knowledge of payroll-related state and federal wage and hours laws. This individual s primary responsibility is to perform the payroll functions for the company, including, but not limited to: processing of detailed time and earnings information to produce accurate gross to net pay calculations in the payroll software and adhering to all financial controls to ensure accurate payroll expenses. The PayrollSpecialist will be responsible for researching employee pay questions and correcting any issues and for communicating errors in payroll expenses to leadership: effective communication and strong customer service skills are vital for this role.

Essential Duties:
Collecting and importing all hours and earnings files from various systems and sources for weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing.
Processing gross to net calculations in the payroll software.
Auditing hours, gross and net payroll expenses to ensure they are in line with previous pay periods; investigate and explain if variances.
Adhere to all internal financial controls to ensure accuracy of payroll expenses for SOX compliance.
Responsible for the accurate application of earnings and deduction codes and appropriate pay rates to ensure accuracy of employee pay and tax reporting.
Effectively communicate with appropriate departments and field branches on payroll issues and questions; ensure timely resolution of all payroll issues.
Review weekly reports to ensure all pay rates are entered properly for new employees and all that all final payments for terminations are processed according to state laws.
Adherence to HIPAA laws and PHI rules and guidelines.
Must follow all federal, state and local wage and hour laws and guidelines.
Maintains confidentiality of all payroll information.
Position Requirements & Competencies:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
2+ years of payroll processing experience
Payroll related activities in a multi-state payroll environment
Strong customer service focus
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff
Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
ADP Vantage Experience (Preferred)
Able to work in a team environment
Strong attention to detail
Capable of learning new technology applications

Skills and Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of payroll operational experience running payroll/handling payroll operations in Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, and Denmark
Payroll duties including updating tax forms, consolidating payroll inputs, understanding commissions & bonuses, time & attendance, identifying data exceptions, reviewing exception reports, using a ticketing tool, conducting accruals, and process/validate/sense check payroll.

Job Summary:
The PayrollSpecialist is responsible for processing both weekly and bi-weekly payrolls. This includes ensuring pay is processed in a timely and accurate manner, while adhering to compliance with Federal, State, and local government regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews payroll each cycle to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including wage payments, benefits withheld, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Reviews payroll reports to ensure accurate processing of changes provided by HR business partners related to each pay cycle. Changes include, but are not limited to rate changes, new hires, termination payments, bonus payments, etc.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Completes payroll analysis for current and prior week payrolls to help minimize risk associated with incorrect payouts to employees.
Maintains accurate records of each payroll cycle to assist in payroll audits (internal and external).
Maintains integrity and confidentiality of data prepared and processed within the department.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the payroll function timesheet reconciliations, including overtime rules and regulations for both Federal and State jurisdictions.
