The Senior Payroll Coordinator is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for employees. This role manages all payroll inputs and adjustments, ensures compliance with company policies, and provides support to employees with pay-related questions.
This is a hybrid position, but employees are expected to report to the office on specific dates determined by the manager. These dates will be communicated in advance to support collaboration, training, or key business activities. This position requires a minimum of 3 and at times up to 4 days in office per week, depending on business needs.

Manage end-to-end payroll processing every pay period, ensuring timecards are collected and approved on schedule. Enter and verify any payroll adjustments, such as manual checks, bonuses, retroactive pay, and shift differentials in ADP Workforce Now.
Reconcile reported hours and ensure the payroll data is accurate. Review preliminary payroll reports (pre-process registers) for errors and make necessary corrections prior to finalizing each pay run.
Serve as a point of contact for payroll inquiries. Respond to employee questions regarding pay, timecards, or deductions in a clear and helpful manner, providing excellent customer service.
Handle payroll output by receiving the payroll package and distributing or mailing out paychecks/pay statements as needed in a timely manner. Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information during this process.
Utilize ADP's reporting tools to generate payroll reports and audits. Ensure proper documentation of payroll records and assist with any payroll-related reporting requirements or compliance checks.
Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes or tools. Work with Senior Director of Payroll to implement best practices that increase efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations.
Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions. Stay informed about updates in payroll policies or systems and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Prepare payroll reports for state compliance and other required submissions.
Attend and actively participates in supervision and staff meetings.
Performs all duties in accordance with the agency's policies and procedures.
Qualifications
A.S. Degree and 3 years experience processing payroll with ADP Workforce Now (or a similar HRIS/payroll system). Experience with ADP Enhanced Time and Attendance is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools, with the ability to import/export data between Excel and ADP. Comfortable with general computer applications and capable of learning new software quickly.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to clearly and professionally communicate with employees at all levels of the organization and with external contacts as needed.
High level of organization and attention to detail is critical. Able to juggle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
A self-motivated and well-organized individual who is eager to learn and take initiative. Willing to ask questions and continuously improve knowledge of payroll practices.
High energy and positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills. A collaborative individual who works effectively with others and contributes to a respectful, inclusive work environment. Demonstrated customer service skills are required.

Duties include:
Processes Workday Timesheets, Absence and Leave related to payroll.
Provides information and assistance to the University departments on payroll, timesheet and absence issues.
Responds to inquiries from staff, faculty and the HR community.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of payroll/accounting concepts and practices as well as PC-based applications. Understanding of IRS regulations, maintain accurate and detailed records and handle confidential information.
Effective communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Knowledge and skills typically acquired through an associate's degree (or equivalent) plus 1-3 years of experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Payroll or accounting experience with Workday.
Responsibilities:
1) Perform end-to-end payroll processes for designated payrolls, following checklist, including Time Sheet, Absence and Leave processing,
adhering to all required audits and resolution authorization. Perform off-cycle adjustments as requested by manager; add to off-cycle
spreadsheet. Ensure taxes for all payrolls and adjustments reconcile.
2) Perform inbound and outbound interfaces as well as related tasks for general deductions, adhering to schedules. Record related metrics
for time elapse and volume counts for optimal system and personnel utilization. Perform other rotating and back-up duties.
3) Provide excellent customer service; respond promptly to all inquiries. Support users for Time Sheets, Payroll, Tax and Payroll Deduction inquiries.

**About the Role**
We are seeking an engaged and experienced software engineering manager to lead a team in the Payroll domain, working on developing software to enhance and support the engineering activities. You will be responsible for the direct management of Software Engineers to develop new features for our Payroll platform.

You will be responsible for guiding technical decisions, managing team performance, and aligning engineering efforts with business goals.
**Responsibilities:**
**Technical Leadership:**
- Provide technical leadership and direction for major projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
- Be hands-on with code, maintaining high technical standards and actively participating in design and architecture decisions, code reviews, and helping engineers optimize their code.
- Ensure that high standards of performance, scalability, and reliability are maintained when architecting, designing, and developing complex software systems and applications.
- Ensure accountability for the team's technical decisions and enforce engineering best practices (e.g., documentation, automation, code management, security principles, leverage CoPilot).
- Ensure the health and quality of services and incidents, proactively identifying and addressing issues. Utilize service health indicators and telemetry for action. Implement best practices for operational excellence.
- Play a pivotal role in the R.I.D.E. (Review, Inspect, Decide, Execute) framework.
- Understand CI/CD pipelines from build, test, to deploy phases.
**Team Management:**
- Lead and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development.
- Foster a culture of service ownership and enhance team engagement.
- Drive succession planning and engineering efficiency, focusing on quality and developer experience through data-driven approaches.
- Promote a growth mindset, understanding and driving organizational change.

**Execution Excellence:**
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact software projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Manage team workload and capacity, setting priorities and managing risks and tradeoffs.
- Align team efforts with the strategic direction of the company, understanding the big picture and business needs.
- Demonstrate engineering excellence and service ownership, including cost and quality management of services, and effective production management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and operations, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Make deployment decisions with appropriate risk mitigation.
**Minimum Required Qualifications:**
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with 3+ years in a technical leadership role and 2+ years in a people management role.
- Proven track record of leading and delivering large-scale, complex software projects in an Agile environment.
- Previous experience as a developer, with deep expertise in Java front-end technologies (React or Angular) would be nice to bring along.
- Extensive experience with software architecture and design patterns.
- Strong understanding of cloud technologies and DevOps principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and drive change.
- We work in a hybrid model, requiring 3 days/week in the Lowell, MA office.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Experience in a complex, matrixed organization.

- Scrum Master experience will be a plus

**USA Pay Transparency**
The pay range for this position is to $129,500 and $186,100, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive and a long-term incentive as part of total compensation.
