PBS CEO and leadership

Paula A. Kerger is president and CEO of PBS, the nation’s largest non-commercial media organization with more than 350 member stations. Since her arrival at PBS in 2006, Ms. Kerger has made particularly strong commitments to the arts, news and public affairs, education, and the use of new technology to expand access to public media. Under Ms. Kerger’s leadership to expand PBS’ impact across platforms, PBS programming is now more accessible to Americans than at any time in public broadcasting’s history. Prior to PBS, Ms. Kerger served for over a decade at Educational Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of Thirteen/WNET.

Jonathan Barzilay was named Chief Operating Officer of PBS in 2015. He is responsible for all operations and strategy at PBS, the nation's largest non-commercial media organization. A recognized leader in the media industry, Barzilay has held senior management positions at ABC, CBS, and Qualcomm, with a track record of building high-performance teams and delivering creative excellence. His leadership roles in media span broadcast, cable, interactive, and mobile. He also led The Ford Foundation's Freedom of Expression unit, overseeing global programs in Media, Journalism, and Arts and Culture. Barzilay began his career as an attorney specializing in First Amendment issues. He is a graduate of Harvard University and Columbia Law School.

Katherine Lauderdale is a Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at PBS and is based in Washington, District of Columbia. She has worked as SVP, Strategic Partnerships and General Counsel at Window to the World Communications, Inc. (WTTW/WFMT). Katherine studied at The Ohio State University and New York University School of Law.
