Your Responsibilities as an Environmental Project Manager: * Lead a dynamic portfolio of environmental projects including environmental due diligence, site investigation/delineation, remediation, and UST removals. * Use your expertise to guide sites through the Voluntary Action Program (VAP) and Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations (BUSTR) programs while keeping key stakeholders engaged and informed * Write and review technical reports, proposals, and regulatory submittals in accordance with Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana state-specific requirements. * Manage field programs in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana; involving soil, groundwater, and vapor investigation and remediation activities. * Ownership of project deadlines and profit/loss * Hire and manage subcontractors. * Mentor and train scientific staff and ensure quality work product. * Proactively identify safety concerns and ensure safe performance of project work. * Leverage your professional network and Apex's existing business relationships and expertise to source for new business opportunities. What we're looking for: * BA/BS in Environmental Science/Engineering or other related science field * Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or other relevant accreditation is a plus * Experience and ability to manage and review Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and Property Condition Assessment (PCA) portfolios. * 7+ years of experience managing soil and groundwater assessment and remediation projects including Phase I/II ESAs, Ohio Voluntary Action Program sites, and BUSTR work. * Stormwater Compliance Experience is preferred. * 40 Hour HAZWOPER * Proficiency with MS Office suite. * Ability to manage a dynamic workflow. * Ability to engage, motivate, and grow dynamic teams. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong attention to detail. * Good safety record and understanding of safe work practices. * Valid driver's license with good driving history/no suspensions and reliable transportation are required. Responsibilities and Duties: Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM standards and EPA regulations. Perform site reconnaissance to identify potential environmental concerns, including visual inspections and interviews. Investigate historical land use through aerial photos, fire insurance maps, city directories, and regulatory databases. Analyze environmental records and regulatory agency files to assess contamination risks. Draft clear, concise, and technically sound ESA reports, including findings and recommendations. Prepare supporting documentation such as site maps, figures, appendices, and photographic logs. May collect limited samples (building materials, water, air, etc.) when necessary, following safety protocols. Communicate with clients, property owners, and site contacts to coordinate access and gather information. Collaborate with project managers and technical reviewers to ensure project success. Track project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure timely completion. Stay current on environmental regulations, industry trends, and best practices. Participate in training sessions, webinars, and mentorship opportunities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, or other related field. 2+ years writing Phase I environmental site assessments. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for field work. Internship or consulting experience is a plus but not required. Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Curiosity, motivation, and a desire to learn. Ability to work on projects concurrently Proven ability to successfully deliver a quality product on time Ability to cultivate strong relationships within a team Additional Information: This position's work mode is in-office. Relocation does not apply to this position. Compensation: Salary range is $55,000-$70,000. This is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. The pay scale for this role considers a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note, the disclosed pay scale estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic location where the position may be filled.
