L3Harris' Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a PCB Designer to join our team. This position will be based at our Rochester, New York facility. Relocation assistance is available. A hybrid or remote work arrangement may be a consideration.
This person will contribute to the company's success by creating PCB layout designs from electrical schematics and mechanical design files to support the development of the most advanced radio communication equipment in the world for the military and first responders. The PCB Designer will effectively utilize design tools deployed at L3Harris to create and improve rigid, rigid-flex, and flexible printed circuit boards using the latest board technologies: 3/3 mils trace/space, microvias, stacked microvias, via-in-pad, etc.
This role will report directly to the PCB Design Manager and is responsible for successfully designing PCB assemblies, optimizing the electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements to achieve all functional, quality, and cost objectives. This role helps oversee the control and synchronization of PCB assembly design and manufacturing files and documentation.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Utilize Mentor PADS layout software to incorporate schematic, mechanical, and manufacturing inputs into new and revised PCB designs.
+ Collaborate with the cross-functional design team to resolve fabrication, assembly, and test issues identified through Valor NPI fabrication and manufacturing checks.
+ Create PCB stackups using Polar Speedstack and model controlled impedance with Polar Si9000.
+ Learn and apply layout design methodologies by PCB type, including: Digital, RF, analog, and power supply assemblies.
+ Work with Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams
+ Review PCB design packages for completeness and accuracy.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
+ 4 + years of of PCB design software, processes, and methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge of the PCB design value chain: schematics, materials, fabrication, assembly, and related design and simulation software tools.
