Responsibilities
The operator is responsible for safety, workmanship, product quality and productivity in the performance of the job.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work-piece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.

Basic Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Five (5) or more years previous experience as a machinist.
Previous welding industry experience is a plus; knowledge of welding is preferred.
1-2 years mechanical assembly experience is a plus.

Must be able to use general math, record and post earnings on a daily basis.
Average hand dexterity is required.

Purpose

Job Responsibilities
Performs all tasks under general supervision.

Selects and measures raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.
Performs reworking and machining of new and spare production parts for departments.

Verifies the accuracy of work by using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and various measuring instruments.
Order and maintain project related material as required.
Assist with keeping neat and orderly records on work performed and repairs made.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Keeping production going with as little down time as possible by following procedures outlined
below:
Building new dies, repairing and adjusting old dies, making new designs, duplicating parts to
match perfectly, forming dies and roll forms, and problem solving any and all questions
relating to dies and their components.
Helps in maintaining equipment so that it runs safely and efficiently to prevent trouble before it
happens, i.e., sharpening, polishing, replacing worn parts, etc.
After changing or making a new die, make test samples of products, test and evaluate the quality.
Works with outside sources and/or Corporate Tooling to make and perfect dies to certain
specifications when unable to make in-house. Provides blueprints, gives recommendations
and/or suggestions.
Checks scheduling to watch for what part is to be ran next and seeing if anything is needed prior
to start up.
Maintains inventory of supplies and orders parts or tools as needed.
Checks and follows-up on ordered dies to see that they are to be delivered on time. Check them when
they arrive, run new samples, etc.
Occasionally travel to customers or other American Trim to look at their products and operations.
Rotate on-call duty by carrying pager, cell phone, etc., as scheduled by the supervisor.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times.

Analyze design risks, anticipate, and mitigate risks when possible, and report concerns to supervisor
Read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
Work with power tools, hand tools, paint equipment
Operate autoclaves, ovens, and other large equipment
Work with calipers, micrometers, scales, and other devices to verify conformance to design requirements
Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Perform tasks associated to composite manufacturing, such as: cutting, kitting, mold release application, vacuum bagging, grinding/sanding, repairs, and bonding
Able to adapt and function well in a dynamic work environment
Work efficiently in an environment without the need for regular, direct oversight.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma with at least two years' experience.
Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Clearance. Active clearance is preferred.
