A Day in the Life: The Baker's Helper plays a key role in the day to day bakery operations. This position involves preparing dough, glazing pastries, and assisting with baking tasks from start to finish. Working alongside the Bakery Sales Manager, the Baker's Helper helps plan the day's production, gathers ingredients, and follows recipes with accuracy and attention to detail. Review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action. • Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe etc. • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise. • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager. • Display a positive attitude. • Understand the store's layout and be able to locate products when requested by customer. • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. • Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions note any discrepancies in inventory. • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained. • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management. • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair. • Notify management of customer or employee accidents. • Report all safety risk, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud. • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. The Artisan Bread Baker is responsible for baking of artisan pan breads, rolls, bagels, hearth breads, as well as sorting finished product for delivery to all three DLM stores. This is a highly skilled position, and we are willing to train the right person. Shifts begin at 4:00 p.m. and run for 10 hours with three nights off. Punctuality and reliability are a must for this position. Qualifications: A desire to make folks happy by providing Honestly Better Food and Service. Food safety expertise.
