Here's how a Yard Pipe/Site Work Estimator for our Civil Infrastructure office contributes to our team: Responsibilities Leads medium-to-large estimates or components of large estimates and is accountable for that specific scope of work. Leads win strategy development Conducts detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine and validate overall project requirements. Ensures the completion of full quantity take-offs of all labor, equipment, and materials from project documents and identifies missing information. Leads the development of conceptual estimate proposal submissions and presentations to support construction management and design-build pursuits. Supports the estimate lead by populating tender forms, generating requests for information, anticipating proposal requirements, and assisting to establish a pursuit schedule. Conducts risk and opportunity analysis by reviewing all bid related documents and utilizing project and industry knowledge. Assists with bid document control by documenting, organizing, and archiving all information relating to the estimate for successful transfer to the project team. Performs bid-day assignments and supporting other estimators to successfully close various scopes. Coordinates with internal departments and external stakeholders to create site logistics, a schedule, an execution plan, and project budget requirements. Completes and presents final cost estimate and tender submission to chief estimator and district management for review and approval before submission to the client. Establishes a critical path schedule for the estimate/pursuit and reviewing work completed by estimators on the pursuit. Leads a team including mentoring and coaching direct and indirect reports. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or diploma in related discipline or trade experience or equivalent. 8 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6-12 months of on-site experience is preferred. Successfully led pursuits valued at up to $150 million in various delivery methods. Knowledge of different construction methods; planning, scheduling, sequencing, quality, safety, and timelines. Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation; including quantity takeoff procedures and systems, subtrade partner procurement, pricing, interdepartmental functions, general expense philosophy and bid-closing procedures. Understanding of compensation models, market conditions, business trends, internal historical information and competitors to develop win strategies. Experience estimating multiple scopes, with the capability of building conceptual estimates. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including the ability to solicit subtrade partners and suppliers. Working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
