**What You'll Do**
+ Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture-critical areas.
+ Install new structural items into existing aircraft framework, including blind-hole work.
+ Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation of structures per standard repair processes.
+ Read and interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, and retrofit requirements for structural modifications.
+ Utilize specialized tooling, assemblies, and fixtures for depot-level structural repairs.
+ Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components and sheet metal/structural systems.
+ Operate precision tools and equipment such as torque wrenches, micrometers, rivet guns, countersink cages, and pancake drills.
+ Access aircraft data systems to manage parts, discrepancies, and documentation.
+ Maintain certifications and adhere to all safety protocols, including Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag Out systems.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (General Mechanics, Avionics, Electronics) to meet cost and schedule goals.
**What We're Looking For**
**Required Skills & Experience**
+ 4+ years working with non-porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
+ 4+ years interpreting schematics, assembly drawings, specifications, and SOPs.
+ 4+ years using structural hand tools ( **drills, rivet guns, countersink cages, hole finders, etc** .).
+ 4+ years working **heavy structures** (doublers, stringers, webs, seat tracks, etc.) in aircraft.
+ Ability to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. **This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.**
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience with **C-17 or depot-level heavy maintenance** .

Electrical Knowledge: The Contractor shall have the ability to follow and accomplish tasks in accordance with existing published technical data. The Contractor shall have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications required to accomplish maintenance tasks and modifications. Aircraft Mechanic II (Crew Chief):
Crew Chief Experience: Minimum of six years total experience in aircraft maintenance as Crew Chief with one year on F-15 aircraft. The contractor shall have the skill and qualifications to lead a team jacking and de-jacking F-15E Aircraft. The contractor shall have the skill and qualifications required to lead a team in bleeding hydraulic systems on F-15E Aircraft. The contractor shall have the skill and qualifications required to lead a team in performing hydraulic landing gear emergency operational checks on F-15E Aircraft. The contractor shall also have the skills necessary to assist the Level II A/E in electrical wiring and other tasks requiring two people.
Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.

6. Instruct and assist other team members in interpretation of blueprints, drawings, and engineering orders; develop methods and shop aids to resolve production installation difficulties and problems

Aircraft Mechanic I (23021): Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift schedule as required.
Must be able to work flexible work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Tues-Sat, Sun-Th or as required.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
Must be able to use hand and power tools.
Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
Must have own tools.
Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.

$42.05/hour

Employees receive a minimum health and welfare fringe rate of $3.75 or a Group Health Insurance Opt Out amount of $2.80 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, and short term disability. Employees are able to enroll in KAI's 401k plan. Employees accrue 6.77 hours of PTO per bi-weekly pay period. KAI employees at ASF Los Alamitos have 13 paid holidays.
Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
