Duties and Responsibilities As a Marine Interdiction Agent, you will perform marine-based law enforcement operations for the detection, prevention, interdiction, and apprehension of terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband and persons from illegally entering or attacking the United States. As an Engraver at Point Eight Power, you will be responsible for engraving identification plates, tags, control panel fronts, nameplates, and other required components used in our switchgear and control building assemblies. Your work will ensure that all markings comply with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and industry standards. Accuracy, attention to detail and a commitment to quality are essential.

What You'll Do
Read and interpret engineering drawings, job orders, specifications and engraving layouts to determine required text, symbols, placement, font size/style, and surface treatment.
Set up and operate engraving equipment (e.g., CNC engraving machines, laser engravers, plate-engraving presses, rotary engravers) to produce component labels, nameplates, control panel fronts, bus-bar labels, terminal tags, etc.
Select appropriate materials (metal plates, plastic laminates, phenolic, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.), ensure correct thickness, finish, color and durability per specification.
Load engraving files or input data manually, set machine parameters (speed, feed, depth, etch/engrave settings), perform test runs, adjust settings as needed for clarity and consistency.
Verify engraved pieces against job documentation for correctness of part number, serial number, panel ID, voltage, warning text, customer name, etc.
Perform finishing operations: cleaning, deburring, polishing, stamping, adhesive application or mounting hardware (rivets, screws, clips) as required.
Maintain inventory of engraving materials, plates, fonts, adhesives and tools; alert supervisor when supplies are low.
Maintain the engraving work area: keep machines clean, perform routine maintenance, report malfunctions, follow safety protocols (PPE, machine guards, incident reporting).
Work closely with production, assembly and quality control teams to ensure timely delivery of engraved parts and consistently high quality.
Document and track engraved plate records, maintain part traceability, ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Support continuous improvement efforts: suggest enhancements to engraving processes, reduce waste, improve legibility, reduce errors, increase throughput.
What we are Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent, Required.
Experience in engraving, labeling or nameplate production, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment, Required.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job orders and specifications., Required.
Familiarity with engraving equipment (CNC engraver or laser engraver) and control software.
Basic mechanical aptitude: ability to set up machine tooling, adjust feeds, depths, clean and maintain equipment.
Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy for text, symbols and alignment.
Good manual dexterity and ability to handle small parts and tools.
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn data-entry and engraving software.
Ability to stand for extended periods, bending, lifting plates up to 50 lbs (or per company standard), and work in a manufacturing environment (noise, general industrial conditions).

Responsibilities
Cryptologic Technicians Interpretive (CTIs), serve as the Navy's experts in linguistics (including Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Persian-Farsi, Russian and Spanish) and deciphering information in other languages. Their responsibilities include:
Collecting and analyzing foreign language communications of interest
Transcribing, translating and interpreting foreign language materials
Reporting highly technical information of strategic and tactical importance to fleet commanders and national intelligence agencies
Providing cultural and regional guidance in support of Navy, Joint Force, national and multinational needs
Operating sophisticated state-of-the-art electronic radio receivers, recording devices, computer terminals and associated peripherals in the communications signals environment
Work Environment
Cryptologic Technicians perform a variety of duties worldwide, at numerous overseas and stateside shore commands, aboard surface ships, aircraft and submarines and with Naval Special Warfare. They generally divide time between assignments ashore and afloat.
Cryptologic Technicians Interpretive can expect a clean, comfortable office-type or small technical laboratory-type environment while on shore duty and a variety of air, surface and subsurface platforms while on sea duty. Their work is of high interest to command and decision-making levels. It is mostly mental, involving foreign language materials.
As a CTI, you may work independently or as part of small, coordinated teams - ultimately under the supervision of Cryptologic Warfare Officers (four-year degree required) or Cyber Warfare Engineers (four-year degree required).
Training & Advancement
Upon completion of initial training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as Boot Camp), you'll report for specialized training, including:
Class "A" School Phase I Defense Language Institute (27-64 weeks) in Monterey, CA, for comprehensive foreign language instruction.
After "A" school, CTIs are usually assigned to their respective Center of Excellence shore station. While assigned to these shore stations, CTIs are often required to perform temporary assignments aboard aircraft, surface ships and craft and submarines in support of unit commanders.

Advanced Training

Qualifications & Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor in the Navy. Those seeking a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive position, including all family members, must be U.S. citizens. Applicants must also meet eligibility requirements for a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance. Normal hearing is also required.
They should have exceptionally good character, the ability to learn foreign languages, above average writing and speaking skills, a good memory, curiosity, resourcefulness, an orientation toward ideas and information and the ability to keep accurate records and work with details. Adaptability to a wide range of work activities and environments and an interest in technology and willingness to acquire computerized skills are also important.
Applicants for this rating should be aware that the duties of a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive sometimes require assignment aboard surface vessels, submarines and aircraft. If otherwise physically qualified for submarine or aerial flight duty, applicants must affirm their willingness to serve aboard any such unit if assigned upon completion of language training.
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before or whether you've never served before.
Part-Time Opportunities
There are part-time opportunities available as a Cryptologic Technician Interpretive.
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Cryptologic Technicians Interpretive in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, Cryptologic Technicians Interpretive may serve anywhere in the world, whether on a ship at sea or at bases and installations on shore.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.

For those without prior military experience, you will need to meet the initial Recruit Training requirement by attending Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. This training course will prepare you for service in the Navy Reserve and count as your first Annual Training.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in aluminum vessel fabrication, proficiency in multiple welding processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while meeting rigorous NAVSEA and AWS quality standards.
This is primarily a shipyard/shop environment role with occasional offsite assignments as needed.Key Responsibilities
Operate required safety equipment and maintain safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard regulations.
Fabricate and fit aluminum components for marine vessel construction and repair.
Perform welding in 2G, 3G, 4G, and 6G positions using GTAW, GMAW, and GMAW-P processes.
Accurately interpret NAVSEA or AWS-approved Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Conduct first-line quality checks using gauges such as fillet weld gauges, V-WAC, and bridge cam to ensure compliance with NAVSEA and AWS standards.
Set up and program welding power supplies, selecting correct filler metals and support equipment for each job.
Perform plasma cutting, beveling, clamping, tacking, grinding, heating, and bolting of components to prepare assemblies for final welding.

Inspect completed work for defects, verifying dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications.
Read and work from shipyard drawings, fabrication sketches, QA packages, and 3D models.
Operate and maintain hand and power tools commonly used in shipyard fabrication (e.g., grinders, sanders, band saws, bending tools).
Coordinate daily activities with Production Managers and Shop Supervisors to maintain project milestone schedules.
Follow all procedures to ensure proper mil-spec filler wire and base metals are used per WPS.
Support other shipyard trades as required to meet production goals.
Work to detailed Statements of Work (SOW) and QA Work Packages for both new builds and vessel modifications.
Required Qualifications
Documented experience as an aluminum welder/fabricator in a shipyard or marine vessel production environment; apprenticeship or journeyman certification preferred.
Proficiency in GTAW 5xxx and GMAW-P 5xxx aluminum welding processes.
Ability to weld PQR plates to qualify new company procedures.
Ability to achieve Level II Visual Testing (VT) NDT certification per company procedures.
Prior qualification to NAVSEA and AWS (D1.1 & D1.2) standards.
Strong knowledge of weld symbols, joint configurations, tolerances, and aluminum weld defect correction.
Ability to weld dissimilar metals and varying material thicknesses.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain access to military or government installations.
