Job Description
The University of Minnesota seeks a new faculty member with fellowship training in pediatric epilepsy who is board-certified or board -eligible to join the Division of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Neurology. After a recent expansion, our division now includes 7 pediatric neurology faculty members and an advanced practitioner, and we are dedicated to further growth and an elevated academic profile. The opening is for a non-tenure track clinician who also has an interest in teaching. Clinical research interests may be accommodated.

The new faculty member will be asked to expand our epilepsy surgery program in collaboration with other division faculty, pediatric neurosurgery faculty, and adult epilepsy faculty. A full array of outpatient and inpatient neurophysiology resources is available as well as a comprehensive team of pediatric neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, psychiatrists, geneticists, and ketogenic dieticians. The epilepsy surgery program capabilities include Stereo-EEG, ROSA, VNS, LITT, RNS, and DBS. There will be numerous opportunities to engage in clinical research activities. Other areas of subspecialty expertise in the division include neuromuscular disorders, headache, neuro-immunology, neurogenetics, and neonatal neurology.

Our faculty are actively engaged in the teaching of medical students, adult neurology residents, and pediatric residents, with abundant opportunities to mentor other learners. Our division is an integral component of the Department of Neurology, which has robust research, education, and clinical activities and resources. The Department had over $8 million in NIH funding in 2020. We also collaborate actively with the Department of Pediatrics in all these domains, and have strong relationships with other departments.

Graduate of an accredited Pediatric Neurology residency training program and Board Certified or Board PreparedLicensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice LicensureAbility to obtain and / or maintain DEA certification for the State of MinnesotaMeet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.Excellent teaching and interpersonal skills

The role also provides physicians with the opportunity to broaden their clinical knowledge across disciplines through collaboration with master practitioners across sensorimotor, communication, and behavior therapies. As our research program grows, physicians will have the opportunity to participate in designing and carrying out research protocols and publishing study results.

This is a full-time role only. We welcome applications from physicians at all levels of experience, including new graduates from residency programs.

What qualifications are needed?

• Medical Doctor from an accredited medical school
• Board-certified or Board-Eligible in Child or Adult Neurology, Pediatrics, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, or other related specialty
• Massachusetts medical license (or the ability to obtain one before the start date)
• Passion for providing exceptional patient care and for using patient feedback to improve clinic operations
• Commitment to training the clinical team as the medical center grows
