Coordinates scheduling the RAI process with the interdisciplinary team Assesses resident through physical assessment, interview and chart review. Reviews information from hospital, consults and outside agencies and uses such information in the completion of the assessment and care planning. Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure AANC certification a plus. RAC-CT Knowledge of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, including the principles the Prospective Payment Process (PPS) strongly preferred. This Level 1 CVICU manages complex cardiovascular patients, including open-heart recovery, post-op valve repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, ECMO, Impella, CRRT, cardiogenic shock, respiratory failure, and multi-system organ dysfunction. This role requires strong critical-care expertise, the ability to interpret complex cardiac rhythms, and proficiency in managing drips, vents, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, and post-cardiac surgery interventions. First-time travelers are welcome. Key Responsibilities Provide advanced critical care to cardiovascular patients, including open-heart recovery and high-acuity post-operative cases. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, arterial lines, Swan Ganz/Pulmonary Artery Lines, and invasive hemodynamic parameters. Manage ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, and complex post-cardiac equipment (Impella, ECMO, CRRT when applicable). Perform and interpret ABGs; manage high-flow O2 and advanced respiratory interventions. Assist with chest tube management, sheath removal, cardiac interventions, and post-cardiac cath care. Respond to rapid response, code situations, and acute patient deterioration. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic EMR (required). Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary support teams. Float as required within specialty clusters and between CVICU units across multiple campuses (Main, South, and North). Maintain compliance with all facility standards, infection control, and patient safety protocols. Qualifications Any state RN license accepted (Ohio license not required to apply; must be obtained before contract starts). Minimum 1 year of dedicated CVICU experience (required). Level 1 trauma experience preferred. Certifications required: BLS (AHA) ACLS (AHA) NIHSS Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency exam within 72 hours of signing the contract. Must be fully proficient in: Ventilator management Arterial lines Vasoactive drip titration Sheath management Post-cardiac surgery recovery Interpretation of dysrhythmias ABG interpretation Epic EMR experience is required. Must be able to work every other weekend and every other major holiday (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day are each considered separate holidays).
