Job Overview:
The OES Process Engineer role requires the engineer to support many facets of ASU plant operations. The primary role is to provide process optimization support to multiple operating facilities on a strategic and a tactical level. The engineer will be tasked with working with ASU facilities to identify longer-term productivity improvement projects as well as to identify daily suggestions to optimize operation. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical services for the Kankakee Plant. Working Conditions

The Pultrusion Process Engineer is responsible for refining and optimizing the processes used in the production of composite materials. The Pultrusion Process Engineer will utilize both an analytical approach as well as hands-on experimentation to define new processes, optimize existing processes, support new material development, and support R&D activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with pultruded components, be a motivated self-starter with a solutions mindset, and be capable of enforcing process discipline on the shop floor while delivering measurable improvements.
Core Responsibilities:
* Develop, document, and enforce robust standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive process stability and repeatability, while supporting quality sustainment and improvement projects.
* Lead optimization of pultruded composites and manufacturing processes to improve product performance, throughput, and productivity, including deep characterization of composite construction variations on processability and product performance.
* Support and guide engineering and R&D pultrusion trials, as well as drive research, trials, scale up, and implementation of new products into production.

The Process Engineer will also need to have superior communication / presentation skills and the ability to facilitate cross-functional teams from project concept through execution.
Core Responsibilities:
* Analyze, document, own and enforce extrusion parameters, tooling configurations, startup/shutdown protocols, and quality checks, while simplifying decision-making and line setup for operators to remove tribal knowledge and enable consistency shift-to-shift.
* Use material science expertise to optimize the extrusion of rigid PVC window lineals, understanding how compounding, temperature, shear, and line speed impact output.
* Build a culture where no deviation from standard work occurs without this engineer's review and approval, while cultivating a team of technical experts and support personnel to drive best practices across all shifts and lines.
