2013

Cortese: 2013, Black Friday.

The prototype bike was designed and produced in 2013, and while it was far from perfect, it’s the model they used to shoot their Kickstarter video.

2014

The Peloton started with a studio in Chelsea, Manhattan, in 2014, where cycling classes were cast.

Arzon joined in 2014 after reading an article about Peloton that made her feel like she was seeing the future of fitness.

In 2014, Peloton began shipping its internet-connected stationary bikes with a screen attached, charging $39 a month for access to streaming classes.

2015

In 2015, Peloton had another fund-drive, and this time it was more fruitful, given that the bikes had started selling at a steady rate.

2016

After buying her Peloton bike in 2016, O’Keefe immediately loved the competition aspect of Peloton, including watching herself rise up the leaderboard in real-time on her bike’s touchscreen.

Vicki Reed, a former head of marketing at Peloton who left in 2016, calls Peloton’s classes “exertainment,” meaning they are so engaging they distract people from what they’re doing.

2017

Peloton launched in the UK and Canada for the first time in the fall, and the company has even dipped its toes into the hospitality industry through a 2017 partnership with Marriott’s Westin Hotels & Resorts that puts Peloton bikes into dozens of hotels throughout the US.

2019

IBISWorld forecasts for Peloton to grow its annual revenue to more than $999 million in 2019.

2020

By the end of 2020, Peloton introduced an advanced version of the Peloton bike, with the name bike plus.

2021

In December 2021, though, John Foley gave fans hope that the studios would be opening soon.

By the end of 2021, the cost of the standard Peloton bike dropped again to $1495; a value cost to accommodate more users.

And, with the introduction of the new cheaper treadmill in 2021, the older treadmill got the name the tread plus.
