POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Penn State invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work with Professor Charlotte Ward and collaborators. The successful applicant will work on projects related to analysis of Rubin, Euclid, and La Silla Schmidt Southern Survey (LS4) data. Research areas of interest include: implementation of multi-resolution forward modeling techniques for joint survey processing of Rubin and Euclid; time-domain science across Rubin, Euclid, and LS4; variable AGN population studies; time-delay cosmography with strongly lensed supernovae; and changing-look AGN/tidal disruption event/supernova host galaxy studies. Applicants with an interest in joint survey analysis methods, machine learning applications to survey data, and large-scale survey processing pipelines are strongly encouraged to apply regardless of their sub-field. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to join collaborative efforts from a range of working groups associated with Rubin, Euclid, and LS4. POSITION SPECIFICS The Cognition, Affect, and Temperament Laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University, headed by Dr. Koraly Pérez-Edgar, seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar (************************** Ideal start date would be early fall. The postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to work on NIH-funded studies investigating a number of complex biological, cognitive, and social mechanisms that shape early trajectories. The primary studies will be: P-CAT, an NIMH-funded longitudinal study that will examine parental transmission of anxiety to preschool children. This project includes fNIRS (parent-child interpersonal neural synchronization), EEG, and behavioral coding and will focus on parent-child interaction and socialization of anxious behaviors through child observation. A sub-aim of the study focuses on anxiety transmission in fathers. HBCD, a consortium study linking 25 sites across the country. The HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study will create a representative sample of families, recruited in pregnancy, and then followed in the first decade of life. Findings from this cohort study will provide a template of normative neurodevelopment in infants and young children and help untangle the impacts of perinatal exposures to substances and childhood environments on developmental trajectories. Data from this comprehensive study will include infant MRI, EEG, neurodevelopmental testing, biospecimens, observed behavior, and parental report. The post-doctoral scholar will also have the opportunity to contribute to and work with data from a number of studies. One example includes: LAnT, a completed NIMH-funded longitudinal study that examined the role of attention and temperament in the early emergence of social behavior and anxiety symptoms in the first two years of life. We completed data collection with 357 families, providing rich data for follow up analyses and publications. Data from this study include EEG, eye-tracking, observed social behavior, and parental report The postdoctoral scholar will have his or her main hub at PSU University Park, but will interact extensively with collaborators at multiple sites, including Washington University in St. Louis and the Penn State College of Medicine. Depending on the scholars focus, the work will incorporate a number of techniques, including electrophysiology (EEG & ERP), psychophysiology (RSA), neuroimaging (fNIRS, MRI), eye-tracking (mobile & stationary), direct behavioral observation, and questionnaires. JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Particle Astrophysics group at Penn State is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work with Prof. Stephanie Wissel on experimental searches for the highest energy neutrinos, multi-messenger, and particle astrophysics. Researchers in the Wissel Lab work on several experiments deployed around the world including in Antarctica, Greenland, and high elevation mountains. Experiments such as the Askaryan Radio Array (ARA) and the future radio component of IceCube-Gen2 at the South Pole and the Radio Neutrino Observatory in Greenland (RNO-G) search for EeV-scale neutrinos with antennas deployed in polar ice. Balloon-borne experiments like the Payload for Ultra-high-Energy Observations (PUEO) search for neutrino interactions in the ice and upgoing tau neutrinos from a high altitude. Researchers in the Wissel lab are also exploring novel concepts like the Beamforming Elevated Array for COsmic Neutrinos which searches for upgoing tau neutrinos from a high-elevation mountain. Previous experience in these experiments or related experiments is advantageous, but not required. The postdoctoral scholar will conduct research on RNO-G, which is under rapid expansion to cover a full 40 km^2. For RNO-G, the Penn State group is responsible for integration, testing, and validation of the data acquisitions systems and contributes to event filtering, both at the hardware and software level. As a part of the RNO-G team, they will contribute to searches for the highest energy neutrinos in the the data as well as instrument calibration and monitoring. The successful candidate may contribute to field deployment, installing and commissioning new stations for the experiment. POSITION SPECIFICS The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences seeks an outstanding scientist to fill a Postdoctoral Scholar position in the research group of Dr Vidhi Pareek. Our lab studies how cells organize their metabolism through enzyme complexes and their interaction with cellular organelles. We combine mass spectrometry imaging, biochemistry, structural biology, and cell biology to examine metabolism in single cells, tissues, and animal models. Our current projects focus on metabolic heterogeneity and pathological drivers in cancer. Education and Experience: We're looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and creative thinking to the lab. The ideal candidate will have earned their Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field. Your doctoral work should demonstrate a strong focus on developing methods and workflows for mass spectrometry imaging, particularly as applied to single cells, tissues, or organoids. Expertise in post-acquisition analysis is essential. If you also bring experience in cell culture, tissue micro-dissection, or fluorescence imaging, these skills would be valuable additions to our team. This research project will design, fabricate, and characterize ferroelectric and piezoelectric modified wurtzite nitride thin films and device stacks with exquisite structural and chemical fidelity. The team will pursue stand-alone thin films as well as layered stacks, as well as nanofabricated resonator structures. We seek a postdoctoral researcher who will pursue these project goals by conducting the following activities: (1) Synthesize thin film nitride piezoelectric and ferroelectric films using sputter deposition instrumentation. (2) Perform physical characterization on thin films and stacked layers to quantify physical structure, crystal structure, chemical composition, morphology, thickness, and stress states. (3) Lead nanofabrication efforts to generate nanofabricated MEMS resonators. (4) Perform temperature, voltage, and frequency dependent properties of nitride films and devices and their component layers. (5) Document, interpret, and organize all data from depositions, characterizations, and property measurements. (6) Organize all data and learning into scientific manuscripts, quarterly reports, and presentations. (7) Coordinate the collective effort of a four research group team at Penn State.
