The Accounting 211 (ACCTG 211) Instructional Team in the Accounting Department is seeking Master of Accounting students (Integrated or One-Year MAcc students) to serve as teaching assistants (TA`s) for the ACCTG 211 course. The ACCTG 211 course serves as an introduction to financial and managerial accounting and is required of all students intending a major in the Smeal College as well as many other majors/minors at the University.
ACCTG 211 TAs are responsible for teaching the Friday “lab sessions”, an important classroom component of the course (this includes organizing, preparing, and delivering the course material for 50 minutes, one time each week). A willingness/desire to teach in the classroom is important, as well as an ability to clearly explain the accounting concepts/topics.
In addition to teaching: TAs conduct office hours each week; assist with the development of supporting course materials and resources; and serve as active integrity monitors during examinations.
This position's hours will be up to 10 hours/week, for each week of the semester. The Food Science Department in the College of Agricultural Sciences is looking for part-time teaching assistants for Food Science 105 (Food Facts and Fads). Student Disability Resources (SDR) is looking for a part-time Educational Assistant for a student who has a mobility impairment taking courses during the Fall 2025 Semester. The individual hired for this role will assist the student with classroom-based writing and materials organization to ensure access to lecture and classroom information. In addition, they will also assist with completing homework assignments outside of class. Primary duties include:
Scribe
Act as a scribe for the student. Handwrite or type the content according to the student's exact instructions.
Materials Organization
Finding and organizing in-class materials (e.g., text. PowerPoint slides, problem sets. graphics) for synchronous use with the instructor and class.
Assisting the student before or after class in meeting with the instructor to get clarification of material and information, as needed.
Other
Other tasks as assigned by SDR.
Requirements:
Time commitment:
Attend scheduled class sessions in-person, on the Penn State University Park Campus.
Able to schedule time outside of class to work on course assignments.
Able to work an estimated 15 to 20 hours per week.
Previous experience working with individuals who have disabilities is preferred but not required.

All job-related training will be provided prior to the start of the semester.

POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State University seeks an experienced and visionary leader to serve as the Director of the Office of Student Care and Advocacy (SCA) within Student Affairs, reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students. The Director will provide strategic leadership and oversight of programs and services designed to support student success, with a particular focus on students navigating complex personal, academic, and financial challenges.
The Director will lead a dynamic team dedicated to the four branches of SCA: care coordination, basic needs support, respondent support, and off-campus student support. The Director will foster strong partnerships across the Commonwealth to create a coordinated, compassionate, and effective student care network and will be instrumental in advancing a culture of holistic care and empowerment at Penn State.
This position requires the successful candidate, while on call, to be able to report to campus within 30 minutes in the event of an emergency.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Vision
Provide leadership and direction for the Student Care and Advocacy unit, aligning programs and services with institutional priorities for student success and well-being
Provide advisement and support to the Student Affairs units at the Commonwealth Campuses and chair the case management community of practice
Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for student care and advocacy services, including crisis response, basic needs support and services, and advocacy initiatives
Serve as an advisor to university leadership on matters related to student care, crisis intervention, and basic needs support
Program Oversight and Management
Supervise a team that includes a Senior Associate Director, Associate Director, two Assistant Directors, four Case Managers, an Administrative Assistant, and various part-time student employees or interns at University Park
Oversee operations of student case management, including assessment, intervention, and follow-up for students experiencing significant challenges
Provide direct case management for complex or high-need situations, using sound judgment and advanced problem-solving skills
Supervise the chair of the University's Care team and oversee its work
Lead Penn State's basic needs initiatives, including food security, emergency funding, off-campus housing support, the Students United Against Poverty affiliate organization, and the Lion's Pantry, actively engaging with students, student leaders, and student governments
Chair the Case Manager Community of Practice at Penn State, convening professionals in student-facing supportive roles across campuses to share resources, exchange best practices, and build community around student care
Collaborate closely with the Behavioral Threat Management Team, Counseling and Psychological Services, University Health Services, Student Accountability and Conflict Response, Student Disability Resources, Global Programs, Sexual Misconduct Reporting and Response, Undergraduate Education, Academic Advising, Student Aid, the Bursar, the Graduate School, Academic Colleges, and other partners to coordinate care and crisis management
Establish and maintain partnerships with community agencies and local governments to identify and maximize opportunities to support student success
Student Advocacy and Crisis Response
Champion inclusion and access by advocating for students navigating barriers to success
Ensure policies and practices are inclusive and trauma-informed
Lead on-call rotation and manage most difficult cases
Assist the Dean of Students in enacting the University's Missing Student Protocol
Serve as an integral member of the Behavioral Threat Management Team
Supervise the University's respondent support program, providing support and advocacy to students accused of violative behavior
Engage with student leaders, families, and stakeholders to build trust and support networks for students
Assessment and Compliance
Establish metrics to assess the effectiveness of programs and services, using data to drive continuous improvement

The Grab Lab in the department of Entomology is looking for undergraduate research assistants to help us conduct studies on the ecology of insects in agricultural systems. Projects in the lab include examining the combined impact of pesticides and heat stress on buzz pollination, investigating ecologically based pest management strategies for vegetable crops and developing smart traps for monitoring and mapping sweet corn pests. Undergraduate research assistants will work directly with graduate students and senior researchers. Part Time Office Assistant
The Part Time Office Assistant plays a critical role in providing exceptional customer service and providing support for the day-to-day operations of the outdoor recreation area. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Stone Valley, this position manages daily office operations within the recreation area.
Key Responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service to create positive experiences for patrons of Stone Valley
Answering phone calls and providing information about programs and services
Orient patrons to facilities and programs
Familiarity with offerings within Campus Recreation Department to be able to answer questions
Using available resources to problem-solve and find solutions
Respond to emails to the public account in a timely manner
Direct inquiries to the appropriate person
Complete tasks related to daily operations of Stone Valley Facilities
Manage rental access
Check in/out equipment using inventory and point of sale software
Manage financial transactions for boat permits, mooring permits, boat rentals, facility rentals, etc.
Support and contribute to a positive culture within all facilities and programs.
Assist with processing reservations for facilities and programs
Work with Coordinator to book group programs
Process cabin rental requests
Preferred Experience & Skills
Prior experience welcomed but not required.
Possess valid Basic First Aid/CPR/AED Certification or higher. Can be obtained upon hire.
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other Computer Software
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
Attention to detail
Work Environment & Requirements
Work will take place primarily at Stone Valley Recreation Area
Work approximately 20-24 hours per week
Seasonal position lasting from March through October with the possibility for employment through the winter months pending workload
Holidays and some weekends may be required
