Technical Engineers pen the plans that lead construction crews to success. As a Technical Engineer in the Army National Guard, you will develop the skills necessary to help build, plan, and repair airstrips, docks, barracks, roads, and other projects. Your training will enable you to assume duties that include construction site development, such as technical investigation, surveying, drafting, and the development of construction plans and specifications. Specific duties may include: construction material testing; drawing maps, charts, and making scale drawings of roads, airfields, and buildings; conducting land surveys and computing survey results; preparing structure wiring and plumbing diagrams; building scale models of land areas that show hills, lakes, roads, and buildings; and piecing together aerial photographs to form large photomaps. In this role, you will work with our Engineering team to support a variety of technical duties. This includes preparing and reviewing plans and bids, inspecting materials and workmanship of projects, researching and collecting data, and analyzing topographical details of sites. We are looking for someone who has a working knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices. Experience with drafting and Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) software, surveying, and construction is preferred. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans, maps, and specifications. General Responsibilities: Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel). Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor's representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas. May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites. Adhere to strict safety standards.
