DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As you participate in our six-month on-the-job training program, you will acquire essential skills to effectively contribute to the operation of highway construction and maintenance equipment, while also performing various manual labor tasks as a vital member of a highway or bridge maintenance team. This program emphasizes the importance of creating a safe work environment for yourself, your colleagues, and the public by following established safety protocols and using the appropriate protective gear. You will learn to conduct visual assessments, make manual adjustments, and communicate your observations clearly, both in writing and verbally. Staying alert in the work area is crucial for avoiding potential risks and hazards. Under the guidance of an instructor, you will also obtain the necessary licensing and certification to operate heavy construction machinery, including Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) vehicles and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role offers an opportunity to engage in a comprehensive, hands-on training program under the mentorship of supervisors, managers, and experienced staff members. The Corrections Officer Trainee participates in formal training sessions and on-the-job assignments to develop skills and techniques in the custody and supervision of inmates in a state correctional facility. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Corrections Officer Trainee participates in formal training sessions and on-the-job assignments to develop skills and techniques in the custody and supervision of inmates in a state correctional facility. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a corrections officer. Work in this position involves the care, custody, control, and non-professional counseling of inmates.
Duties and other information for this position include:
* Direct and indirect contact with inmates and visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
* Four years of civil engineering experience, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
* A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or in a closely related field, which includes or was supplemented by major course work in civil engineering; or
* An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
* Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within nine months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Corrections Officer Trainee participates in formal training sessions and on-the-job assignments to develop skills and techniques in the custody and supervision of inmates in a state correctional facility. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a corrections officer. Work in this position involves the care, custody, control, and non-professional counseling of inmates.
Duties and other information for this position include:
* Direct and indirect contact with inmates and visitors.
* Directing inmates and maintaining security in cellblocks, housing units, cottages, work areas, dining, and recreation areas, by monitoring the movement and activities of inmates.
* Observing inmates and inmate behavior by making periodic and unannounced rounds, head counts, and security checks, and reporting anything unusual to a corrections officer.
* Work a 40-hour work week with shifts to be determined, work any shift and work in all areas of the institution as assigned, work overtime as required by operation necessities and emergencies, work on those weekends and holidays which occur during your normal work schedule, and report to work under adverse weather conditions.
* Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
* Participating in formalized instruction in the areas of sociology, psychology, court procedures, self-defense, leadership, custodial responsibilities, and the facility's organizational structure.
