The anticipated wage for this position is $43,000 - $110,000 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). POSITION REPORTS TO: Shop Supervisor SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES: None STATUS: Full-time; FLSA Non-Exempt POSITION OBJECTIVE: Build Barges and barge accessories per blueprint specifications DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Layout, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in shop according to blueprint and layout specifications, in preparation for welding. Setup and adjust welding machines in order to weld components and assemblies using GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW. Plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowance for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal. Move parts into position manually or utilizing overhead cranes and forklifts. Remove high spots, slag and cuts bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, chipping hammers and cutting & plasma torch. Inspect materials, components, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: 3 years of production welding and fitting experience preferred Higher vocational training preferred Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and AWS standard welding symbols Previous experience training others is preferred. Experienced in GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW. Knowledge of GTAW is preferred. PHYSICAL FACTORS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis Must be able to stand, reach, walk and bend on a continual basis.
