    Job Description Betty Jean Kerr Peoples Health Centers is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Organization that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adults in the northern and central parts of the City of St. Louis and North St. Louis City. A professional mental health staff serves a growing caseload of 2,800 patients, of which greater than ninety-five percent are chronically mentally ill and suffering from major psychiatric disorders. BJKPHC operates a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center and a Comprehensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center for adults and youth. Summary: BJKPHC currently has an opportunity available for a Youth Community Support Specialist (CSS). This position is responsible for providing activities and interactions that enable an individual at clear risk of hospitalization, or who was discharged from inpatient treatment to maintain an adjustment to living in the community. The CSS is also responsible for evaluation of client's status including personal strengths, areas of concern and needs. CSS worker will participate in formal assessment and the development of the person-centered plan; monitor client's progress towards goal attainment; provide assistance and act as a 24-hour resource when necessary. Train clients in living skills, social skills and other pro-social activities which enable client (s) to actively participate in the recovery process. The CSS worker also transports clients to appointments and makes house visits as applicable. The CSS worker is an active member of the Clinical Treatment Team. CSS worker is responsible for maintaining client records and assuring standards and guidelines are upheld. Requirements: Bachelor's degree and two years of qualifying Experience; Any four year combination of higher education and qualifying experience, or An individual with four years of qualifying experience. Qualifying experience must include delivery of service to individuals with mental illness, substance abuse or developmental disabilities. A professional mental health staff serves a growing caseload of 2,800 patients, of which greater than ninety-five percent are chronically mentally ill and suffering from major psychiatric disorders. BJKPHC operates a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center and a Comprehensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center for adults and youth. Summary: BJKPHC currently has an opportunity available for a Community Support Specialist (CSS). This position is responsible for providing activities and interactions that enable an individual at clear risk of hospitalization, or who was discharged from inpatient treatment to maintain an adjustment to living in the community. The CSS is also responsible for evaluation of client's status including personal strengths, areas of concern and needs. CSS worker will participate in formal assessment and the development of the person-centered plan; monitor client's progress towards goal attainment; provide assistance and act as a 24-hour resource when necessary. Train clients in living skills, social skills and other pro-social activities which enable client (s) to actively participate in the recovery process. The CSS worker also transports clients to appointments and makes house visits as applicable. The CSS worker is an active member of the Clinical Treatment Team. CSS worker is responsible for maintaining client records and assuring standards and guidelines are upheld.
