As Peoples Mutual Telephone continued to expand into the rural areas, the process to incorporate was started January 3, 1914.
A: Peoples Cartage and Storage Company was established in 1914 by Joseph Schrader.
April 1, 1916, all offices moved to the upper floor of a building located at the southeast corner of Walnut and Broadway.
In July, 1929 the purchase of the Boicourt Exchange completed the coverage to the south.
In 1946, Ray Sibila, owner of Sibila Trucking, bought Peoples Cartage and Storage Company.
In 1947, Ray Sibila, owner of Sibila Trucking, bought Peoples Cartage and Storage Company.
Ray Sibila expanded and incorporated in June of 1950 as Peoples Cartage, Inc.
In the late 1960’s Peoples Services branched into public warehousing while continuing to grow and expand the existing businesses.
In 1961, The Peoples State Bank added convenience to its list of services, with the addition of its first drive-in facility at the rear of the main bank.
In December 1968, due to its increased size, the bank purchased a lot and building from Jasper Columbian Home Association.
Not only was the main bank enlarged and remodeled in 1969, a new drive-in facility was also constructed on South Van Buren Street, offering more convenient and accessible services.
Ray Sibila, retired in 1971 and Ray’s son, Don Sibila was elected president.
From the $15.8 million level in assets, The Peoples State Bank grew over $35 million at its 100th anniversary in 1975.
1976 brought the completion of upgrading the system to buried cable and to one party service, a building expansion and move of the switching and business offices to 210 N Broadway.
In 1991, Peoples Services, Inc. was formed as the parent company of Peoples Cartage and related companies.
In 1993, Peoples established their headquarters in Canton, Ohio.
The current office building located at 208 N Broadway, was built in 2000.
In 2004, Doug Sibila was named chief executive officer.
The digital switch was replaced in 2009 by a softswitch and Fiber to the Premises was constructed within the City of La Cygne.
The Peoples State Bank in Lawrenceville was purchased in 2010 and in June of the same year, a brand new drive-in facility opened in Newton.
In 2010, Peoples acquired Terminal Warehouse, doubling the size of the company.
2016 has seen expansion through Peoples Services, LLC into the city of Louisburg, Kansas.
Our most recent acquisition on October 2020 is Kandel Cold Storage located in Tallmadge, OH.
