A great location (Concord, NC) and the knowledge of the food processing industry is great. Maintenance is not overwhelming most of the time, but as in any industry, there are those days. The management currently in place are great down to earth people, and sincerely try to promote a family oriented business.
In maintenance, the parts and supplies are centrally located, and often cause unnecessary downtime for parts acquisition. In many instances, the ambitions of technically minded people are not beneficial because the structural advancement for promotions, achievements, and benefiting the department are hindered. Otherwise, Maintenance is superb at Perdue.
The assistance with clothing, safety shoes, and on the job technical training in various areas are great. The safety director and the maintenance department go hand in hand. The company continues to grow exponentially with support in the Corporate office. Being the leader in processed chicken is what Perdue represents, and this alone gives the employees the self pride and feel of security working in a company with over 100 years of business success. Benefits of Health and Life insurance are above average. 401K is not to bad. Having a medical department onsite is exceptional. Profit sharing is in place and gives the incentive to do a good job at Perdue.
The CEO is phenomenal, and the leadership at Concord, excellent.
Maintenance. Bring a more adhesive relationship of the maintenance employees realizing that each maintenance person on the team has equal potential for achievements, advancements, ideas, and goals, then giving the recognition as deserved. People grow, when they have something to offer. When a select few make all the decisions without support of everyone in the department, growth for success is stalled.
Multiple visits with Key Management and Technical Management. Dress normal everyday attire in maintenance. Know the facility process, understand the food processing environment. Listen carefully, and answer questions. No drug or Alcohol issues is accepted. Be prompt and and prepared to cross reference examples of past experience, and education. Hands on, and Computer savvy are a plus.
From my experience, the pay is not bad. Yes, it falls short with some other industries, but it is not well below the average.
As a culture or (how you see yourself) Perdue does not discriminate. Every nationality works at the Concord, NC facility. Perdue tries very intensively to insures that no one is left out when it comes to hiring, work responsibilities, and support.
Knowing that I make a difference in the success of what the company produces and the friends I acquired through working for Perdue.
Nothing they do not treat every one fair you are treated and praised highly if you have prison record on work release you will receive a premium job exspecially if the supervisor has been a cell mate with you and they post a job after the supervisor gives it to one of his friends so upper management can save their butt HR is a joke if associate goes to them it's back in the dept before you get back to job in that dept what ever you complained about wet her it a supervisor or the task of the job or another associate Perdue farms in Washington indiana is a total upper management and supervisors are a bunch of clowns
The safe environment is what I like mostly about working at Perdue Farms.
The smell and the fumes is what I do not like about working at Perdue.
Health insurance and getting paid, and singing in the Perdue Choir were my favorite perks about working there!
The chance to earn overtime ,and earn extra if u choose to do more production work

U can. Work hard and get your production and clock out if not want to make extra money
Self paced work. Freedom with the work schedule.
Not a lot of help from upper management. You are on your own if anything bad happens. You are the fall guy no matter what.
Personal vehicle
Fast pay
Hard job
Getting paid and being able to keep up with your payments if you want to start a savings
The pay and the benefits.
Lots of turnovers. And lack of interest from H.R. in safeguarding their employees etc.
Overtime when it's given
Self paced work. Freedom with the work schedule.
Not a lot of help from upper management. You are on your own if anything bad happens. You are the fall guy no matter what.
