August 28, 1998: Prime Therapeutics Inc. opens for business with Steven S. Martin as president and CEO. The unique model brings together health plans with their PBM to control total cost of care.
2000 Introduced an electronic work order system–which evolved into PBMate, a robust technology platform with 7 modules to streamline and better manage operations.
2003 PB Protection created, allowing PBM to strategically expand its offerings and provide quality security services for commercial facilities.
April 1, 2004: Prime opens PrimeMail® in Irving, Texas, shipping over 1 million prescriptions that first year.
November 1, 2005: After outgrowing the facility on Woolworth Avenue in Omaha, Nebraska, Prime’s 175 contact center employees move to their current location on Farnam Street.
October 2, 2006: Prime’s new 104,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Eagan, Minnesota opens.
2006: Prime becomes the seventh largest PBM in the first year of the Medicare Part D program.
March 24, 2008: Prime launches Triessent™, a complete specialty pharmacy management services program.
August 1, 2008: With employment at Prime growing at double-digit rates, Prime leases space in the Normandale Lake Office Park, Bloomington, Minnesota.
November 3, 2010: Prime introduces “be well” for employees, offering wellness screenings, health coaching, classes and more.
September 22, 2011: Prime introduces CareCentered Contracting™, an innovative value-based contracting program.
Early 2013: Under new CFO Jim DuCharme, Prime introduces the Financial Value Statement. “None of our competitors come close to providing the level of financial disclosure Prime provides,” says DuCharme.
Early 2013: Prime’s Medicare enrollment exceeds 1 million people.
March 18, 2015: Thanks to the strength of our Blue Plans, Prime is the largest PBM serving the Health Insurance Marketplace (HIM) in its first year of operation.
2015 PBM Painting was established to accommodate the growing demand for high-quality new construction painting, wood restoration and staining and wall paper hanging.
August 29, 2016: Walgreens and Prime announce a strategic collaboration, creating a new model that aligns the pharmacy, PBM and health plans for the first time.
2016 Recognizing a client need, PBM Metal & Marble was started as a specialized division to provide skilled restoration, rejuvenation and maintenance for a full range of luxury surfaces.
April 3, 2017: AllianceRx Walgreens Prime hits the market as one of the largest central-fill specialty and home delivery pharmacies in the United States.
January 2018: Covered lives surpasses 27 million people.
January 1, 2019: Prime begins the year with more than 28 million members across all lines of business.
