Aunt Millie's Bread company history timeline

1927

J.B. Franke was killed in an auto crash in 1927, and the business’ reins were soon passed to his son-in-law H. Leslie Popp, Sr.

1944

In 1944, Perfection began distributing Sunbeam Bread.

1965

In 1965, Perfection acquired the Gase Baking Company, which was one of the first bakeries in the industry to install a pneumatic flour unloading system.

1978

Leadership of the company passed to H. Leslie Popp, Jr., grandson of the founder, who in 1978 supervised the construction of the existing company headquarters in Fort Wayne.

1980

In 1980, another grandson of J.B. Franke, John F. Popp, was named president of Perfection, and soon afterward acquired the Way Baking Company.

1990

Also in 1990, the company was renamed Perfection Bakeries, Inc.

A new bakery was built in Coldwater, Michigan, where Perfection moved its bun production in 1990.

1992

1995

Located 25 miles north of Dayton, the Sidney plant was purchased from Campbell’s Soup in 1995.

1996

To better accommodate the growing company, Perfection opened a bakery in Sidney, Ohio in early 1996.

1997

Also in 1997, a secondary bakery opened in Coldwater, Michigan.

2000

In the year 2000 both brothers decided to combine their 30 years of successful business and baking experience which gave birth to Perfection Foods Ltd.

2001

Aunt Millie’s celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2001.

2004

In the fall of 2004, Aunt Millie’s purchased a 64,000-square-foot building in Plymouth, Michigan.

2006

In 2006 Perfection Foods managed to establish itself nationally, supplying direct to national wholesalers such as Makro, Batleys and Bestways and large retailers such as Asda & Morrison’s.

In early 2006 Sukhdev’s eldest son Gurdeep began to focus on the export market.

2009

The Plymouth bakery has been BRC-certified with an A rating each year since 2009, and is a Certified Burger King Producer.

2016

After acquiring the bakery building in 2016, Aunt Millie’s spent a year completing renovations and installing equipment.

2017

The Aunt Millie’s bakery in Lowell, Indiana began production on April 17, 2017.

2020
