1964

Since 1964, Performance Auto Group has built a reputation as one of Canada's leading automotive groups.

1974

PERFORMANCE COLLISION CENTER got its start in 1974 as a little four person body shop for the newly opened Tri-County Toyota store.

1976

In 1976, Hendrick sold off his assets to purchase a struggling franchise in Bennettsville, South Carolina, thus becoming, at 26, the youngest Chevrolet dealer in the United States.

1979

In late 1979, despite strong in-market competition, Hendrick built the first free-standing Honda dealership in Columbia, South Carolina.

1984

Hendrick Motorsports was founded in 1984, first competing at the highest levels of NASCAR with driver Geoff Bodine.

1985

In 1985, Hendrick became the first to own and operate multiple General Motors franchises, entering Florida for the first time through the opening of Harbor Chevrolet in Tampa.

1987

Among these new locations, Honda Cars of McKinney (1987) became the first Hendrick Automotive Group dealership opened in the state of Texas.

1992

In 1992, Hendrick Automotive Group started operating within Kansas City, opening two dealerships on the Kansas side of the city; and one in Missouri, beginning two years of expansion in the area.

1993

Hendrick Automotive Group also opened its first Dodge franchise in Cary, North Carolina in 1993.

1996

By 1996, the company built upon its world-class customer service offerings by opening its first two Hendrick Collision Centers in Kansas City, Missouri and Cary, North Carolina.

1998

PERFORMANCE COLLISION CENTER expanded its building to its current 32,000 square foot facility and in 1998 became a single collision repair operation under the PERFORMANCE COLLISION CENTER name.

2005

smart Centre St Catharines joins Performance Mercedes-Benz in 2005, delivering an economical urban solution and statement for every city driver.

2014

Brantford Toyota is purchased in January, 2014.

2015

In 2015, nine new dealerships are acquired in the Niagara region and the company adopts the well-established brand of Performance Auto Group.

2016

In May 2016, Rick Hendrick and wife Linda established the not-for-profit Hendrick Family Foundation.

2021

Headquartered in North Carolina, Hendrick Automotive Group generated over $11 billion in revenue in 2021 after selling more than 205,000 vehicles and servicing 2.3 million cars and trucks.
