About the Role:
The Sr. Field Mechanic with MYR Group you'll travel to project sites across the designated service area, supporting our field teams. You'll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor equipment repairs safely and professionally. Like every team member, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to internal customers.
Location Details:This position will ideally be located in Troutdale, OR.
Travel Details: This position requires travel throughout Northern California, Oregon, and Washington states, (including overnight) to project locations, supporting teams to ensure successful operation of the equipment. At times, the Mechanic will be required to respond to emergencies outside regular work hours and work overtime including weekends and holidays. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided. When travel is required, meals and lodging will also be provided.

Essential Functions
Perform mechanic assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations
Perform a full range of servicing and repairs on various types of fleet equipment, including malfunctioning parts and systems. Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company schedules
Frequently travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of equipment. Must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
May provide oversight for less experienced mechanics
Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs
Identify mechanical problems either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment
Maintain records of time and materials used on each job, the condition of the equipment, and the repairs performed
Track information in computer software; ensure repair orders and weekly timesheets are complete and accurate
Conduct safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
Work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other rules and regulations as required
Participate in training programs; maintain and update safety skills and knowledge; keep current with hazardous material training requirements
Other duties as assigned

About You:
Qualifications
Must have five years of experience in general heavy truck repair, automotive repair, or equipment repair; equivalent trade school/technical school time may be applied toward this requirement OR have completed a vocational/technical school program or apprenticeship in vehicle and equipment repair and have four years of experience.
Must be capable of operating company vehicles and equipment on a daily basis. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and good DAC Report.
A valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) is desired but not required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for all project administration including all contractual requirements, agreements with trade partners, purchase orders, and risk management. This individual also manages general work performance and quality, and overall team progress against the project plan.

Budget Updates:
Produce thorough forecast of Cost-to-Complete which drills down to identify potential exposures
Coordinate the use of Oracle with Expedition to readily identify exposures
Require the project team to track costs of field directives and back charges for forecasting purposes

Work to recover all legitimate GC costs relating to Owner Changes
Track the status of all Contract Allowances in Expedition and submits Change Order Requests (COR) when an over-run is likely
Require the project team to track all field directives and back charges in Expedition for timely processing on a monthly basis, i.e. composite clean-up, hoisting time, etc.
Project Close Out:
Establish an effective Close-out Plan early in the project which includes the early collection, review, and packaging of Contract close-out documents

Produce an effective Schedule of Values which supports a strong cash flow position
Review each Subcontractors initial Schedule of Values to prevent overpayment
Review Sub/Vendor requisitions to prevent payment of unsigned or unfunded Change Orders
Produce and update the cash model for the Owner to prevent surprises
Produce an accurate percent complete projection to support the SCCI financial management process
Meeting Management:
Establishes a meeting regiment for the Project Team which provides for effective communication and problem solving

Manage all meetings by agenda and work to time limits
Contract Logs:
Require the Project Team to assemble and maintain the Project Logs (Cash Management, Change Management, Noncompliance, Buy-Schedule, Contracts, Procurement, Submittals, RFI's, Safety, Hold Reports, Construction Schedule, Work lists) and periodically review for accuracy
Conduct focus meetings once per month to review the maintenance of those logs and drills down to identify potential exposures and issues
Subcontractor Relationships:
Establish a "Firm but Fair" approach to building relationships with Subcontractors
Promote an environment of organization and professionalism with Subcontractors
Address issues immediately with a non-performing Subcontractor to protect SCCI from resulting delay and potential impact

Work with the Project Team, including Superintendents and Estimators, to consistently produce clear, thorough, and accurate Scopes of Work based on drilled down review of documents

What you will do
Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors control technicians, service technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes required project and service documentation. Provide our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. As a trusted advisor to our customers, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service
How you will do it
Diagnoses and repairs complex control systems malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
Consults with the customer through data gathered and site assessments. Provides field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and or enhancements to existing equipment. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads.
Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally.
Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customers to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work.
Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all control's technicians in the branch. Provides safety awareness while working onsite with Johnson Controls subcontractors.
Trains the customer in control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coaches, supports and trains the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment.
Compiles job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
Conducts extensive self-study (reading, research and practice) to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company's product lines. Completes certifications as required by the company.
Other duties related to the installing, commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems, as assigned.
Assists in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, and bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
Assists in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent.
Compiles and/or completes project as built and close-out documentation.
Assists in the coordination and creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
Selects, orders, and tracks the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
May provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings and software.
Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
Assists in performing site-specific training for owner / operator on the total building control system.
Participates in release meeting with project field team.
Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
What we look for
Required
Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system trouble shooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business.
Minimum of Four (4) years Commercial Controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry. This includes buildings, chiller plants and systems.
Vocational School program graduate or an associate's degree in a technical field, or two years' experience in servicing electronic and or mechanical systems.
Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites.
Possesses the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
Demonstrate effective writing skills as well as understanding of programs and software applications.
Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.92-$33.65 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
