Definition
To keep assigned kitchens clean and sanitary in support of the Nutrition Services Program.
Essential Duties - Duties my include, but are not limited to the following:
Cleans, sweeps, and mops kitchen floors daily. Deck brush and scrub as often as needed.
Wax floor as needed.
Wipes walls daily.
Cleans drains as often as needed.
Cleans filters monthly.
Cleans hand sink daily. Ensure that paper towels and soap are stocked, refills when needed.
Polishes stainless steel.
Cleans restrooms at assigned sites; mops and disinfects floors and fixtures, fills soap and paper towel dispensers, cleans toilet.
Empty trash daily, clean trash cans weekly or as often as needed.
Orders custodial supplies for assigned sites.
Ensures kitchen security by locking all doors when finished at each site.
Performs non-technical repairs; replace light bulbs, repair carts, etc.
Report needed repairs to immediate supervisor.
*Performs any and all duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
Materials, disinfectants, cleaning chemicals approved for Nutrition Services use, equipment and methods used in custodial work.
Safety and Sanitation principles.
Material Safety Data Sheet use.
Ability to:
Learn and follow applicable District and departmental policies, procedures, schedules and practices.
Perform custodial tasks efficiently and effectively.
Perform duties requiring standing, walking, stooping, pulling/pushing, bending, operation of cleaning related equipment and restroom cleaning tasks.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Lift twenty-five (25) pounds and work under a wide range of temperature changes.
Interact with others with courtesy and respect.
Work independently with little direction.
Understand and follow oral and written directives, work procedures, accept constructive criticism and arrive to work on time.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
District food service environment; subject to heat; extreme temperature variations, and ability to lift, push, pull, and stand for a prolonged period of time. Subject to fumes from chemicals and other materials. Must travel to multiple sites.
Education:
High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent.
License Requirement:
Possession of a valid California Drivers License and proof of insurance at the time of appointment to and during employment in a position in this class.
Condition of Employment:
1. Insurability by the District's liability insurance carrier.
