Job Summary
The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
Qualifications
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
Minimum age of 18 preferred. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements. Maintains all department specific required certifications. When applicable, may need a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Iowa: Require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing. Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained.
Minnesota: Must have nursing assistant certification, have completed the 75-hour course and be registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Successful completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course.
North Dakota: Require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing. Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained. If working in an Assisted Living or Basic Care facility, Medication Assistant I certification required. If working in a skilled nursing facility, Medication Assistant II certification is required.

As part of the Safety Team, the Shelter Ministry Safety Worker ensures the security, safety, and well-being of staff, guests, volunteers, and facility assets. This role performs security rounds, screenings, searches, intake supervision, and general oversight to maintain a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment consistent with New Life Center's mission and values. This position reflects Christ's love through compassionate service, respectful communication, and a ministry-minded approach to every interaction.

Essential Function 1: Safety, Security, and Ministry Engagement
Conduct metal detection screening at facility entrances to prevent weapons, contraband, and drugs from entering.

Maintain access control and monitor traffic flow through entrances and exits.
Monitor video surveillance, intrusion, and fire alarm systems, report irregularities immediately.

Maintain detailed records of searches, confiscations, and incidents.

He brings over 14 years of combined experience in public safety and security operations, including 4 years as a medic in the U.S. Army, 7 years as a police officer, and 3 years in private security management. TJ joined New Life Center to strengthen organizational safety protocols, law enforcement partnerships, and staff training programs focused on prevention, response, and recovery.

This position provides supervision, instruction, housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, shopping, emergency intervention, and personal care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Hours vary within a 24-hour, 7-day a week schedule, with part-time (less than 32 hours per week) shifts.
