Position Summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Providing direct care to consumers served by the agency.
Providing emotional support to consumers and their families.
Following directions of the RSD to meet the consumer's service needs.
Preparing healthy, well balanced meals as well as specific physician-ordered diets.
Completing the required number of in-service hours each year to maintain active status.
Documenting the services provided as well as turning in paper work within specified time frames.
Providing homemaker services if specified in the consumer's Individual Service Plan (ISP).
Demonstrating reliability, timeliness, and responsibility while caring for consumers.
Flexibility in scheduling when consumer's needs unexpectedly change.
Be available anytime to cover shifts when contacted.
Ability to work in challenging environments without physical limitations.

Qualifications and Education
High School diploma or GED
Texas Driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation
One-year prior experience working in a group home setting with developmentally, intellectually and/or physically disabled individuals preferred.
Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with special client needs.
Demonstrated organizational and decision-making skills; ability to document daily client activities and observations in a timely, concise, thorough and accurate manner; or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills.
Knowledge of Universal Precautions, First Aid and CPR.

Position Details
Location: Private residence in a senior community in West Houston, TX.
Client: Gentleman in his early 70s.
Schedule: Flexible, to be determined:
Two days per week, approximately 2-4 hours per shift.
Compensation: $20 - $25 per hour, based on experience.
Reporting: You will be employed by and report directly to the client's local daughter, with whom you will maintain regular and open communication.
Start Date: ASAP/December 2025
Primary Responsibilities
The Care Companion's main role is to provide non-medical support, companionship, and household assistance to help the client maintain a stable routine, social engagement, and an active lifestyle.
Companionship and Social Engagement

Responsibilities:- Provides “hands off” care, such as:- Providing and encouraging socialization- Encouraging a mild exercise program- Encouraging medication compliance through timely reminders to take medications- Supervising the safety of the patient/client when bathing, toileting, and dressing- Assisting with grocery shopping and performing light housekeeping chores- Performs other duties as assigned/necessary- Arrives at the client's home on time and leaves when the shift schedule is complete- Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner- Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures, including but not limited to universal precautions
Requirements:- Must be at least 18 years old- One (1) year of experience as a Companion Care Homemaker/Companion Care Provider preferred- Ability to carry out tasks in a professional manner and adhere to policies regarding professionalism and boundaries preferred- Must demonstrate a compassionate nature and possess strong interpersonal skills.- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills preferred- Proficiency in the English language is required- Computer proficiency required

Utilizes safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility.
Washes residents' laundry as needed.
Understands and uses Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Standard Precautions, OSHA's Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens standard, and follows established infection control procedures, hazardous communication, and other safety rules.
Documents provision of services on company forms.
Operates designated medical equipment, copy, scan, fax machines, and telephone.
Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.
Assists residents with personal correspondence/telephone use when requested.
Observes and reports changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to Wellness Director or supervisor, as needed.
Conducts room checks and resident rounds.
Monitors for environmental safety hazards.
Respond to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner; Immediately reports such emergencies to the supervisor.
