    Job Title: Personal Trainer FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Fitness Manager Department: Health and Wellness Salary Range: $25-30 per hour YWCA Tulsa offers innovative and inclusive personal training services to the community of Tulsa. Services include a physical assessment and a personalized personal training program; one on one sessions with a trainer in a gym setting with access to a full line of strength training equipment. Reaching fitness and wellness goals that the client sets is the goal of the trainer. Providing nutritional support and general guidance if requested is also an option for clients. Increasing the physical health and well-being of each client ensures the success of the personal training relationship. The Personal Trainer will assist in providing a personalized fitness plan, oversees one-on-one workouts and provides optional nutritional guidance for each client. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Conduct screening assessments of new clients and record accurate body measurements. Assist clients in setting SMART goals and adjusting those goals as necessary. Design safe and effective workout programs that are personalized to the client's needs. Help maintain a neat, clean gym environment. Meet with clients regularly and provide regular check-ins regarding progress. Provide general nutritional advice if appropriate and requested. Work to retain current clients and actively acquire new clients, maximizing desired client load Promote the different training packages to current clients and potential clients. Assist new members with equipment orientations. Provide clients with undivided attention during 55-minute workout sessions. Maintain accurate records regarding sessions with clients and progress towards the goal. The duties in this job description represent the major functions but are not intended to be all-inclusive. Qualifications Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal communication skills in working with clients, members and other gym staff. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to keep accurate and current records regarding client progress and goals Reliable transportation/Driver's License Work Location: This position is in-person and is not eligible for work from home arrangement. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. At least one-year experience as a personal trainer. Current CPR certification Certification from nationally recognized programs such as NASM, ACE or ISSA. Certification must be kept current. Supplement certifications are a bonus, such as Certified Nutrition Coach, Corrective Exercise Specialist, etc. Physical Requirements: The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee will work in a fitness center and in close quarters with other staff and clients. Employee must be able to perform additional duties as directed by management. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to high. Hearing, as in listening to normal conversations, including one-on-one conversations, discussions in meetings, and/or telephone conversations includes 100% of time in hearing. Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors); and Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, are required. Position requires sitting or standing to a significant degree (sitting less than 1/3 of the time; standing over 2/3 of the time). Use hands to finger, handle or feel over 2/3 of time. Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, may be required over 2/3 of the time. Will routinely lift, carry, and otherwise position objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Job Summary: The Fitness Trainer is responsible for creating a safe, effective, and engaging fitness environment for club members and guests. The role helps with supervising exercise programs, educating members on proper techniques, and developing personalized fitness plans tailored to individual goals and needs. In addition to offering expert guidance, the Fitness Trainer will actively promote the club's services and facilities, ensuring a positive experience for all. Reporting Structure • Reports to the Fitness Manager or Fitness Director Day-to-Day Assist in the exercise and fitness areas of the club, including supporting members and guests with their exercise and fitness programs. Evaluate member/guest fitness needs and provide the appropriate exercise program for meeting those needs, including providing personal instruction if necessary. Conduct new Member Fit Start appointments in accordance with club standards and track accordingly. Connect with members regularly and promote fitness activities, including warm welcomes, magic moments, and fond farewells. Update fitness activities and programming on web page and/or member communication board, as applicable. Promote the facility amenities, programs and the club while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service that aligns with the values, philosophies, and standards of the club. Maintain current fitness-related certifications including CPR/AED and actively seek new education opportunities that are presented through Invited partnerships. Ensure that daily assignments are effectively completed in designated areas to uphold Club standards and maintain orderly and organized workspaces, arranging and tidying entry areas, and properly stocking and organizing equipment and materials. Responsible for daily processing of all accounting procedures around personal training and or group session(s) accurately. Submit monthly forecasts for expected sessions, Fit Starts and New Client goals. Maintain an up-to-date schedule of availability to ensure accuracy. Additional Duties Due to the dynamic nature of the club, employees are expected to assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management. Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions. Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff. Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same. Take the initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to your role. Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations. Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to the team's success. To evaluate Member/Guest fitness needs and provide the appropriate exercise program for meeting those needs, including providing personal instruction. About you Required High school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Fitness Trainer, demonstrating proficiency in developing and leading personalized fitness programs. Current personal training certifications: ACSM, NASM, ACE, PTA Global, NFPT, ISSA, CSCS or NSCA. Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED within the last 6 months as well as being a certified group exercise instructor with AFAA or ACE. Preferred A college degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and motivate clients. Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored exercise programs. Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
