Scope of Responsibilities:
Designs and implements safe, effective and enjoyable fitness programs that will meet the unique needs and wants of each member.
Plans and instructs individuals, small groups or classes with a personalized approach following YMCA standards and guidelines.
Contacts members on a regular basis to follow-up on progression of their fitness program.
Keeps accurate records of members' progress.
Discusses and promotes all YMCA programs. Motivates members to commit to long term participation.
Ensures safe and effective workouts. Responds to, and reports, accidents, incidents, and equipment problems.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required. Maintains current certifications.
Supports the YMCA's mission and center operations as needed.
Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent with at least a year of Personal Training experience.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Personal Training Certification Required (NASM, ACSM, ACE, or AFAA) at time of hire.
Working knowledge of preventative health and fitness programs and philosophy.
Ability to motivate and lead members. - Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Ability to work with varying fitness levels and ages.
Child Abuse Prevention - Support the YMCA's commitment to child abuse prevention by:
Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Certified Personal Trainer will be responsible for providing one-on-one and couples personalized fitness instruction in person to clients at their home, apartment gym or outside while encouraging them to reach their fitness goals. Responsibilities are as follows:
Customize client workout programs developed from the Initial Assessment
Utilize the Svetness Fitness App for all client sessions, including programming & session notes
Demonstrate each exercise and ensure client is performing correctly with or without modifications
Conduct client Reassessments every 4-6 weeks
Maintain client session appointments through Svetness scheduling software
Able to provide a flexible schedule to accommodate client appointments
Able to commute to and from client sessions up to 45 minutes
QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Personal Trainer: Accredited by NCCA, DEAC, or NBFE.
CPR/AED Certification: Ensure clients' safety with up-to-date CPR/AED training.
Education and experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1-3 years of personal training experience.
Strong communication skills: Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and technically.
Knowledgeable in nutrition: Possess a basic understanding of nutrition and healthy living practices.
Fitness expertise: Familiarity with a variety of exercise equipment and personal training methods.
Physical ability: Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. and performing athletic calisthenics duties.
Requirements for this position include the possession of personal basic training equipment to effectively assist clients in achieving their goals. It is important to note that clients may not always have access to the necessary equipment.

The goal of our Personal Training department is to encourage, coach and educate our members on the many benefits of regular exercise. As a Personal Trainer, you are responsible for motivating and inspiring clients by setting goals, providing feedback and accountability and creating enjoyable and effective fitness experiences. This is not a behind the scenes position - you are on the front-line letting your personality shine, connecting with members, offering complimentary advice, teaching classes and helping clean and maintain fitness equipment. An NCAA accredited Personal Training Certification prior to employment is required. I. Daily Operations
Display a member first attitude by not only being raving fans of WAC, but also for creating raving fans; we are all responsible for attracting and retaining members.
Be visible and interact regularly with clients and members using smile, name and eye contact.
Acknowledge all members, especially the ones in the fitness center.
Offer assistance, correction and advice when appropriate to members who are working out.
Conduct daily walk through of the fitness center to ensure safe conditions.
Attend Fitness meetings and Fitness WAC University sessions.
Conduct personal training sessions according to WAC standards; confirm all appointments.
Help clean and maintain all fitness equipment.
Keep members informed of fitness center etiquette; strive to say yes whenever possible.

Encourage participation by providing promotions to clients, such as the Buy 100, Get 20 event.
Do part to help exceed Fitness goals - both individually and department-wide.
Up-serve or recommend additional services of interest to our members at point-of-sale.
VI. Fitness
Act as a liaison between all departments to promote the benefits of Personal Training.
Be aware of all programs, activities and events that are happening in the club.
Sign up for upcoming programs, activities and events to increase WAC product knowledge.
Utilize the Program Process when creating and evaluating Fitness programs and events.
Assist in Fitness events, such as Super Saturday.
Offer to write WAC Magazine articles for Fitness section.
Participate in community organizations and positive social media to actively promote club.
VII. New Member Integration & Retention
Work with member services to ensure a smooth transition from sign-up to Fit Sessions.
Welcome all new participants to the fitness center and connect them to other programs and events.
Utilize the 5-foot rule - if you are within 5 feet of a member, engage them with the WAC greeting.
Create memorable experiences. Have fun while engaging members on the fitness floor.
