Job Responsibilities
Provide personal evaluations to clients on their fitness level by reviewing their abilities, physical condition and overall health to ensure that all fitness plans are suitable.
Create personalized fitness routines that assist clients in reaching their fitness goals while remaining suitable to their current physical abilities.
Teach clients on the proper techniques for all exercises, especially when using more complicated equipment, to minimize the risk of injury.
Monitor clients on their status and make changes to their individual fitness plans based on any physical changes and increased or decreased fitness levels.
Enforce all gym policies and safety rules to reduce the chance of any accidents and to maintain a safe and comfortable environment in which clients can exercise.
Inform clients on other healthy lifestyle changes to complement their fitness goals, such as a healthier diet or not smoking.
Perform emergency first aid when needed, including treating minor injuries with bandages or wrapping and administering ice.
Clean and maintain all fitness equipment so that it is ready for clients to use at any time.

Must be current and in good standing.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age..
NCAA Personal Trainer Certification or Exercise-Science related degree

Job Responsibilities
Actively recruits and retains personal training clients.
Personal information of members/ clients must be kept strictly confidential to maintain a high degree of trust and confidence.
Ensure contractual agreements and payments for members are processed through member services and in adherence with the Y's accounting procedures and policies.
Assists members and customers on the wellness floor and the Family Center courteously.
Designs programs that are tailored to individual member health and wellness objectives, documents progress.
Coach and motivate members in support of their desired behavior change.
Regularly checks on members' progress and answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
Maintains working knowledge of fitness/health living trends to provide effective information and support to members.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
Engaging with members to upsell all programs including Personal Training, Group Exercise, Youth Sports, Aquatics & Youth Development programs.
Utilizes tools, technology and information for the purpose of increasing member knowledge of healthy living programs provided through the YMCA (handouts, schedules, etc.).
Report all accidents/incidents to supervisor and follow the Association's current employee and member injury reporting procedures.
Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations or when rescue or first aid is necessary
Enforce all safety rules fairly, consistently with tact and respect.
Maintain Personal Training or specialize certifications (per Association requirements) certifications
All other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
High School graduate or equivalent preferred
CPR, First Aid, AED Certification preferred prior to hire. Must obtain within 60 days of hire
Previous experience with diverse populations preferred
Certified Personal Training Certification and/or approved specialized certification (EX: Certified TRX Instructor) required from one of the following: American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), World Instructor Training Schools (WITS), International Sports Science Association (ISSA), National Personal Training Institute (NPTI), National Exercise Trainer Association (NETA), National Council on Strength and Fitness, Fit Tour, or a 4-year degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy. Must be current and in good standing.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends and holidays as needed.
Must be willing to work an on-call schedule rotation as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Certified Personal Trainer will be responsible for providing one-on-one and couples personalized fitness instruction in person to clients at their home, apartment gym or outside while encouraging them to reach their fitness goals. Responsibilities are as follows:
Customize client workout programs developed from the Initial Assessment
Utilize the Svetness Fitness App for all client sessions, including programming & session notes
Demonstrate each exercise and ensure client is performing correctly with or without modifications
Conduct client Reassessments every 4-6 weeks
Maintain client session appointments through Svetness scheduling software
Able to provide a flexible schedule to accommodate client appointments
Able to commute to and from client sessions up to 45 minutes
QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Personal Trainer: Accredited by NCCA, DEAC, or NBFE.
CPR/AED Certification: Ensure clients' safety with up-to-date CPR/AED training.
Education and experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and 1-3 years of personal training experience.
Strong communication skills: Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and technically.
Knowledgeable in nutrition: Possess a basic understanding of nutrition and healthy living practices.
Fitness expertise: Familiarity with a variety of exercise equipment and personal training methods.
Physical ability: Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs. and performing athletic calisthenics duties.
