The Fitness Coach represents 24 Hour Fitness to members and clients by delivering a positive fitness experience and quality personal and small group training sessions leading to member retention and client acquisition. The Fitness Coach leverages experience and specialized education to deliver premium programming and consultation for clients in person.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
Service and Train Clients
Design and deliver comprehensive fitness programs based on clients' goals that include appropriate exercise selections, programs that include varied fitness offerings, general nutrition guidelines and teaching a fitness lifestyle.
Inform clients of fitness tools available to assist them in achieving their goals.
Set expectations and hold clients accountable to their comprehensive fitness programs through goal setting, follow up discussions and track progress.
Demonstrate safe and proper exercise techniques to clients.
Arrive on time, prepared and enthusiastic while being attentive for every training appointment and or group session.
Meet minimum productivity expectations servicing clients and group sessions.
Increase member group training sessions and attendance through strong teaching skills and ability to connect with and motivate others with a wide variety of fitness levels.
Service Members and Administration
Assist in member service activities such as fitness seminars, training days, and deliver a positive fitness experience to members and guests through complimentary fitness assessments.
Build and generate a strong fitness business through new client acquisition and retention.
Effective onboarding of new members and clients by providing professional recommendations to help acclimate to a fitness lifestyle.
Coach members on proper use of equipment and exercise techniques.
Start and finish sessions as scheduled.
Handle member concerns or direct to appropriate club management.
Deliver on the Service Promise of Clean, Friendly and Well-Maintained Club by racking weights, team cleans and assisting with maintaining a clean and organized club.
Create, maintain, and regularly update progress for each personal training client, following company guidelines.
Schedule personal training sessions, other appointments and administration of time four weeks in advance using company systems.

Reports to the General Manager and will interact with all levels of club staff.
QUALIFICATIONS

Understand principles of physical fitness and proper exercise technique.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator Certifications (AED) received through in person training required.
Degree in a related field or current certification through at least one nationally accredited industry associations.
Specialized fitness credentials preferred or equivalent work experience or education in specialized function.
Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications
* 1+ years of experience as a PersonalTrainer or Fitness Coach.
* Holistic fitness program design and consultation experience preferred, but not required.
Physical Demands/ Environmental Conditions
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
* Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting weights, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, jumping, kicking, and prolonged standing and walking.
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the environment is occasionally loud.
Extended workdays are a frequent occurrence, as are weekends and holidays as needed to support the business.

Notify the corporate facilities department when repairs and maintenance are needed and serve as an advocate for getting these issues resolved in a timely manner
Maintain and implement an equipment cleaning schedule and overall maintenance checklist to ensure all equipment is working and operating
Maintain a safe, clean, and esthetically appealing physical environment
4. Team Member Relations
Work in partnership with other members of the Chiefs Fit team and as an integrated member of the Chiefs Fit Community. Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the day-to-day operations of the department and club, as well as the overall success of the business
Actively participate in meetings and company-wide initiatives and provide feedback and ideas for improving and building all aspects of the business

RESPONSIBILITIES

John Knox Village is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and highly motivated fitness instructor to join our fitness team. As part of our vibrant senior living community, you'll play a key role in helping residents stay active, independent, and engaged through a variety of land and aquatic fitness programs. Our Fitness Instructors provide safe, effective, and enjoyable exercise experiences for residents across two fitness centers, indoor and outdoor pools, group exercise studios, and recreational spaces such as pickleball courts and a full gymnasium. This role blends teaching, coaching, motivation, and relationship-building to support each individual in reaching their fitness goals and improving their quality of life.
JOB SUMMARY
Support fitness program members in reaching fitness goals through delivering safe, effective and motivating fitness programs in a variety of fitness settings including group fitness classes (land and/or water depending on certifications and experience), fitness equipment located in the fitness centers, recreational opportunities and/or personal training. Supportive of the Village's mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training as required by policy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide initial orientations for new members.
Collect health history questionnaires, release forms, and physician consent forms (if meets criteria for needing a physician consent form) from members.
Conduct fitness assessments and create individualized fitness plans based on fitness center member goals. Reassesses individuals at intervals determined by fitness manager.
Develop positive rapport with fitness center members to support engagement in fitness programming.
Lead senior-appropriate fitness classes (floor, chair and/or water), adapting as appropriate for varying abilities and mobility levels, demonstrating proper exercise techniques and monitoring participant safety at all times.
Provide semi-personal or personal training to members to contribute to their overall well-being
Ensure all participants are properly trained in the use of the facility's exercise equipment.
Responsible for making sure that the exercise area and equipment are safe and clean.
Actively participate in and promote fitness center challenges, fitness education opportunities and other fitness center activities.
Fully utilize the Fliip app and other fitness apps to support Village fitness programming.
Adhere to all safety regulations and requirements.
Handle stress well and get along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.
Maintain acceptable standards of workplace conduct.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in fitness related field or equivalent level of experience (4+ years of relevant fitness experience) preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
National fitness certification: ACE, NASM, ACSM, or NSCA required.
Group fitness certification: ACE Group Fitness, AFAA GFI, or ACSM GEI or equivalent preferred.
Certified PersonalTrainer: ACE CPT, NASM CPT, ACSM CPT, or NSCA Certified PersonalTrainer or equivalent required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date and prior to personal training.
If teaching an aquatic class, Aquatic Fitness Certification (AFAA, ACE, AEA, Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Certification or related and/or Lifeguard Certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date and prior to teaching aquatic classes
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (current) required.
Current valid driver's license is required with proof of insurance required.
