Purpose:
The Pet Stylists' primary purpose is to perform expert-level professional grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning. The Pet Stylist is responsible for prioritizing the safety, comfort, and well-being of the pets in our care and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction and customer service to pet parents. The Pet Stylist may be required to complete additional tasks as assigned by the Grooming Salon Leader, Solutions Manager, or Store General Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for groomers with proven technical experience to grow their expertise in grooming and individual productivity.
Essential Job Functions:
The incumbent must be able to consistently perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
Under moderate to limited supervision, perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, according to pet parent's instructions and adhering to breed standards and company policies and procedures
Operate and maintain various grooming instruments, including clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers
Always prioritize the well-being and safety of every animal in the salon, monitor pets for any signs of discomfort, illness, or injury, and promptly report any concerns to pet owners and store management
Evaluate individual needs of each pet, taking into consideration coat type, skin conditions, temperament
Interact professionally and effectively with pet parents, provide optimal customer service, address grooming related inquiries, offer grooming recommendations, and provide timely resolution to questions or concerns
Educate and provide custom recommendations to pet parents on grooming maintenance and at home care practices & products to promote the overall well-being of the pet
Maintain a clean and safe grooming area and salon, disinfect, and sanitize grooming tools and equipment, perform daily and weekly cleaning duties in the salon and in adherence to Petco hygiene and sanitation policies, other cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned, including but not limited to cleaning air filters, vents, and drains
Utilize knowledge and understanding of Petco's grooming policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure safety, quality, and consistency in all activities and areas of the grooming business, ensure standards are maintained in grooming salon
May need to train, support, and supervise entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader
Education/Experience:
Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program with Petco, or previous experience as a professional groomer and/or completion of a technical grooming training program
High-school diploma or GED preferred, though not required
Latitude for independent judgement and problem solving, using grooming skills and knowledge to solve problems in routine to moderately complex situations, with some guidance from Grooming Salon Leader, Solutions Manager, or Store General Manager when necessary
Results-driven with commitment to productivity, performance, and ownership of role in the grooming salon
Strong attention to detail, ensuring grooming services are executed accurately and to the highest standards
Genuine passion for animals with a desire to continue a career in pet grooming
Expert knowledge of various dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues and behaviors
High level of proficiency in breed-specific cuts, styling techniques, and grooming standards
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and grooming team members
Capable of handling pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy
Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required by the Pet Care Center's grooming schedule
Work Environment:
The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time. Position may require exposure to heights using a two-step ladder or other support tools, such as vacuums, to perform assigned cleaning and maintenance duties. A large amount of this partner's time will be spent in direct contact with our pet parents and their dogs, and the
remaining time will be with the other salon partners. The work environment can be noisy and wet.

Position Overview
As an Operations Specialist - Omni you'll be responsible for the operational execution within the Pet Care Center with specific focus on our Omni channel, through the lens of Petco's vision of “Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World.” You'll ensure the efficient execution of all Omni channel processes such as Ship from Store (SFS) operations to ensure consistency with product picking, packaging, & shipping in the Pet Care Center. This role is responsible for a reduction in time spent on SFS operations due to an increased familiarity and process efficiencies. You'll assist in the receiving of merchandise & supplies to and from the store and to ensure that all merchandise & supplies are accurately stocked, and provide guest service, as necessary. This job is composed of a variety of different tasks which may be covered by operational guidelines, and while individual judgment may occasionally be required in order to complete assigned tasks, some questions are directed the Leader on Duty.
Position Responsibilities

Supports the effective and efficient operations across the Pet Care Center.
Assist in completion of daily SFS picking, packing, & shipping.
Assist with the unloading and stocking of merchandise supplies & supplies according to operational guidelines in order to ensure that the Pet Care Center is well stocked, properly set, and that supply counts are accurate.
Process register transactions in a way that creates a great experience for each guest.
Be proficient within our selling model and support guest interactions as needed.
Adhere to and promote established safety procedures.
Perform routine housekeeping tasks as required to maintain the professional image and appearance of the Pet Care Center, to include sweeping/mopping the floors, dusting, facing the merchandise on the shelves, back room maintenance, etc.
Participate in the completion of quarterly and annual physical inventory counts.
Complete Omni Channel and SFS projects following policies & procedure; cleaning, planogram sets, proper labeling, signage & fixture needs of project, disposal of RTV items, appropriate hazardous waste storage and clean up.
Analyze on-site/actual conditions in comparison to written plan, identify necessary corrections and recommend alterations as necessary and troubleshoot resolution.
Coordination with Pet Care Center/Field partners to ensure actual fixturing, floor plan setup, stocking and SFS equipment is completed according to plan and if changes are made that they are properly communicated.
Communicate with the Pet Care Center Leaders upon completion of day on any remaining unfinished orders, SFS WIMR screen correction information for the Pet Care Center to complete at end of day.
Special Projects as needed.

Education and Experience
Minimum high school diploma (its equivalency i.e. GED) or the equivalent work experience.

Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of interaction with the public and other partners and leaders within the store.

This role is expected to provide support during key operational hours, with weekend availability. Because this position requires bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds, as necessary) and standing for long periods of time, there may be risk of injury resulting from failure to follow safety precautions and procedures.
Contacts
This position has continuous contact with the public at the Pet Care Center and at Pet Care Center -related events, and regular contact and exchange of information with other departments in the field, Distribution Centers, and at the Support Centers. Contact outside of PETCO may be required to coordinate merchandise returns, ordering parts, Pet Care Center repairs, coordination of vaccination clinics, Pet Care Center events, vendor meetings, etc.

Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments and escort them into an exam room, obtain weight and vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations) and record the electronic medical record. Veterinary Assistants will collect thorough patient histories and document the patient visit in the EMRs.
Assist doctors with appointments (routine and emergency), surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia, under supervision from the veterinarian credentialed veterinary technician, , HOM and HLOD.
Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications at the direction of the veterinarian and help maintain the electronic medical record.
Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results to doctor and clients, and maintain and update client/patient records.
Help prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and assist doctor and/or veterinary technician in anesthetizing patients. Under supervision of the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician, assistants will maintain patients safely under anesthesia while monitoring vital parameters, help monitor patients during recovery and prepare them for hospital discharge or transfer to an overnight care facility.
Under supervision of the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician, perform in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous fluid therapy; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by doctor), safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
Under direction of the HOM/HLOD, assist in the training of new staff members and general dissemination of knowledge as required.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; perform regular cleaning of environment based on necessity as well as based on a pre-determined maintenance schedule.

Nature of Supervision
In all activities related to the care of individual patients, the incumbent will take direct supervision from the veterinarians as well as the Veterinary Technician. Basic Qualifications

Assume scheduling responsibilities for all paraprofessional partners, with the expectation to schedule a minimum of two weeks out. Maintain all hospital partner points in accordance with Petco's punctuality and attendance policy.
Create and maintain doctor's schedule with support from Area or Regional Medical Director as needed.
Review P&L monthly reporting, and partner with Area Operations Manager to increase revenue growth and exceed financial targets set by Finance team.
Escalate partner or client issues to Area Operations Manager, Area Medical Director and/or HRBP as required.

Basic Qualifications

The purpose of this Veterinarian Technician position inherently involves providing excellent veterinary care to our Vetco Total Care full-service hospital patients and phenomenal customer care to their owners. The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities

Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications at the direction of the veterinarian, and maintain the electronic medical record.
Schedule appointments, communicate with and educate clients, relay test results to doctor and clients, maintain and update inventory as well as client/patient records, and manage accounts receivable.
Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, safely support induction and monitoring of anesthetized patients including checking and recording vital parameters (under direction of the veterinarian), monitor patients during recovery, and prepare them for discharge to owner or transfer to an overnight care facility as needed.
Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous therapies; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by veterinarian), and safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
Participate in the training of new staff members and general dissemination of knowledge as required.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; perform regular cleaning of environment based on necessity as well as based on a pre-determined maintenance schedule.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Provide backup phone and front desk support as needed.
Nature of Supervision:
In all activities related to the care of patients, the Veterinary Technician will take direct supervision from the veterinarians as well as the Hospital Office Manager or Hospital Leader on Duty. For purposes of overall supervision, the Veterinary Technician takes direction from the Hospital Office Manager.
